you mean streaming hd movies with xbmc vs playback of media files?

i dun think the issue is with the q5ii.

streaming smoothness depends on the speed you have, the integrity of the sites you access, the infra traffic, etc.
i get it smooth with some, jerky with others.
mashup is usually fine, 1channel and icefilms less so.

paid channels usually are good, free ones - anything goes...

playback - all is good, like any other media player.

nope. its playback from local media via wireless connection. using the built it browser it works ok, but on xbc lag. normal non hd video is ok.

what should i do? is it some setting in xbmc i set wrongly? or maybe the firmware version is old?

i c...

but why wud u want to playback via xbmc and not file manager direct?

about xbmc, i was trying to tweak the settings to improve the 720p streaming but then realised the settings were for playback. u may want to try tweaking a bit and c how...

go: system-settings-video.... there are things like refresh rate, sync, etc there to play with. let us know if it helps.

i had help, but think it's straightfoward, using the "upgrade" option in settings.
take note this "flash", unlike some other players where yr own settings and preferences are retained, will erase everything.
you need to set it up all over again incl launcher, desktop, addons, xbmc, etc. - all of it.
but best you contact yr seller or maybe ccs can help you so as to do it correctly.

don't think so.

but you can use the himedia browser to save utube page like an app, then place the app at the desktop, which is as good as an app obtained from store.
again i had help but that's what i thought i saw done.

I put the latest firmware in a usb drive, go to settings and under system upgrade i click and get the message "no upgrade package" wtf doh.gif

i try to put under C directory, same thing happened.

i open the zip file and look at the build prop it has a slightly newer version then show on the Q5II

I wonder will it make a diff between eng n chinese firmware.. can they be flash between each other.

Balls... so annoying. Finally found out why it doesnt want to upgrade. It is looking for a file name exactly as follows :

update_dualcore_Q5.zip

The downloaded file is name "update_dualcore_Q5_en.zip" doh.gif

Updating now. It might be a good idea to put a notis info regarding this at front page.

What refresh rates and resolutions are available over HDMI? Does it support 23.976 and 59.940 or only 24.0 and 60.0 fps output like all other Android players? Hope this one does not repeat or drop frames because HDMI refresh rate does not match movie refresh rate of 23.976.

You can test for frame drops using these files:

i dun know enuf...

i only noticed under xbmc settings, there is an option to "auto refresh" but is for playback only.

have not found anything anywhere to change refresh rates for streaming. right now, i find frames missing and hence "jerking" on most (some ok) 720p streaming. i am not sure if this is due to broadband speed (using 10mbps) or settings or something else. any comment on what i can do?

Nothing to do with xbmc. Isn't there some place in the system display settings where you select 1920x1080p 60Hz, 1280x720 50Hz, etc. for the display mode of your TV?

I just want to know what modes are supported by this player for playing 1920x1080p 23.976 videos. You can use the files I linked with moving bars to see if the refresh rate is correct for each type of file. The bars will jump or freeze and not play 100% smoothly if the display mode is wrong.

Since it supports 3D Blu-Ray iso files, it must at least support 1920x1080p 24 fps frame-packed display format over HDMI 1.4.

from the q5ii settings, it shows pal, ntsc..... 720p 50hz.....1080p 60hz. no mention of fps, refresh rate.

i find everything working fine with playback on this machine, incl bdmv files.

720p files streaming - some good, some jerky.

1080p streaming, bad jerk, forget it.

i do not know if this problem is due to setting(s), the machine, the addon site, my speed, modem...??

anyone can help?

Thanks for reply bro.

Meaning still realtek player picture video image quality is better? Anyone has tested & compared the difference? Any improvement from last firmware update?

Actually, I have an old 1073DD ++ chipset media player which I contemplate to upgrade. First thought was to upgrade a better spec realtek media player. Now I don't know should i or not? rclxub.gif
