on top of whatever you're doing now, eat.

in between whatever you've eaten, eat again.

after a month and your weight hasn't moved up (even worse if it's gone down), double whatever it is you've been eating.

other instances that you should consider eating at: going to bed? eat something; before working out? eat something; after working out? eat even more of that something.

protein supplementation is not a must. just make sure each of those meals that you're having has some sort of meat from an animal. the more meat the better.

and another thing, save the money for more food rather than PT sessions. templates are available on the interweb FOC so pick one and stick with it for the long term.

No not any food. Eating abit of lettuce wont be equal to eating a chicken drumstick for example.

And exactly how much is too much to spend on food? If you aren't willing to invest RM400-500 a month to buy food to gain quality weight (muscle mass, minimal fat) then go elsewhere. Food costs money, thats a fact.

Please go learn about calories, TDEE, surplus and deficits before asking for someone to list out a healthy bunch of foods to buy to gain weight with.

If you don't care about gaining fat over muscle then I suggest eating an extra 5 roti canai/ Nasi lemak a day with plenty of kari/sambal. If you want to be even cheaper - Eat 5 packets of maggi on top of whatever you are eating now. Weight gain is inevitable if you do eat any of the above in those quantities.

From what your posting you sound like "I want to gain weight, I dont want to eat too much or spend too much" doh.gif If thats the case, I suggest calling 1800-Fairy-God-Mother. They will help you there. whistling.gif

valid points by shadowz.

if you cannot justify to yourself to spend money on food, you're only holding yourself back. i mean quality food here. junk will work but you will gain fat. however, either way in order to make weight, you will need to accept the fact that putting on some fat is inevitable. once you throw that out of your mind, the sky's the limit. you can choose to eat whatever you want and cut down once you've reached your goal weight or you can build up slowly from eating real foods.

think about it this way, if you were to eat mcd alone you'd need to spend i think RM20 a day to get enough calories in you to make weight. you can spend the same amount (maybe a little less) on buying raw meats and vege for the week and cooking them yourself. now the latter is where most people start giving the excuse that they do not have enough TIME. so again, it's up to you.

there's only so much we can do with a keyboard.
