Hi all. Plan to book a Almera. Undecided on e spec or v spec. Difference of 7k. Is it worth it? My concern is the airbag and fog lamp. Can take e spec and add airbag? How much cost? Any recommendation for optional item to take? The SA said give me free Navi/Luxury package. No other freebies. Anyone have any better dealer to recommend? Thank u

QUOTE(ahchun @ Jun 16 2013, 12:43 PM) Its personal. If you think extra airbag is a must then 7k is worth it. I am not sure if air bag can add on later after u bought car. I never heard or knw ppl do it. The navi pakage i belive is 3k discount. I think better take the 3k cash discount n upgrade to V spec for ur case. Those navi stuff can be add on to ur liking later on. Thanks for reply. I decided on VL spec with Impul aerokit and Navi package. Opt for rm3.6k rebate. Ready stock in showroom. Can get car upon sign loan agreement. Hope its the right decision.

Hi all almerian. Im one not so happy almerian. First week get car, get bang by some idiot. Have to send for repair. Now already drove for one month. Mileage 1800km. Felt that my FC since day one is not that good. 80% city drive. Fuel up rm100 only go 500km. I was like wt*!! Nissan claimed 14.9km/litre. Felt that the first gear always stuck at 20km/h and need more revving to go beyond that. Is all cvt like that? I went up genting twice, man i rev like mad in order to climb the hill. Is it bcoz not synthetic oil? Down hill during corner, feel like gonna buang... I really dunno how to say my dissappointment.. Any idea or advuce on how to improve it?

QUOTE(Blues03 @ Jul 29 2013, 08:43 PM) Sorry to hear that bro..how bad is that accident?80% city drive...jammed?u better send to SC..weird because i dun have any problem at 1st gear.. For climbing hill..did u put OD off? Get whack by Nissan 4x4 at rear side. Repaired. New alike but the scar is in my heart . Every morning i used jalan kuching to work. Alot of car but moving at slow pace. I bought almera bcoz of space and FC only. Now felt like cheated because the effiency is not up to my expectation. Recently i been quite fed up with the 1st gear that i just floored the throttle whenever felt it wont move. For hill climbing, i tried 2 nd gear and also D with OD off. Unfortunately no diff. It normally tooks me 45mins from house to peak of genting. With almera its nearly 1.5 hour. My problem????

QUOTE(jfk @ Jul 30 2013, 01:24 AM) Did u use Shell or Petronas for ur petrol? Base from my experiences this two type of petrol really make ur engine a bit "delay"... maybe for a great FC but sacrifies the performance. CVT did delay a bit compare ordinary transmission but not that bad afterall First week i used shell 95. Draggy.shell 97 normal only. Second week bhp. Good fc and power. Third week petronas. Same like shell. Now using Bhp all the way. Smooth revving. U guys can try it and c.

QUOTE(ahchun @ Jul 30 2013, 07:20 AM) not sure what car u drive before this but almera is really not suitable for spirited driving. it got huge body and tiny engine enough for daily commute if u keep flooring the pedal, ur FC only will get worst if u want more power, u will need to burn more fuel. try e-drive and see. just to clear the misconception almera never come with CVT. its a conventional 4 speed box Bos whats e-drive?? Before this i driving manual. Now switch to auto. Still adapting. Trying different way of revving to get the most power out of almera. Kind of get it during today journey to genting highland.

QUOTE(lostasylum @ Jul 30 2013, 09:21 AM) thanks for the information. back to the original question that was being asked though, does the almera perform that badly when going uphill? has anyone tested the almera going to genting or camerons aside from taiping boy? Tested again today. Improved to 50mins. Kind of get the idea now. O/d off with D all the way and control of throttle is the key. Dun care new car, just revv harder and release slightly upon pick up. Acceptable result today. Will try again when my wallet got money haha. Btw i realised that my FC always improved upon back from genting. What is going on?? Whats the average FC of fellow almerian. Up to date my best is only 8.8 litre/ 100km.

QUOTE(louyit @ Jul 30 2013, 09:54 AM) Guys, for your information, almera is using conventional 4AT with torque converter, not CVT . Ok, back to the question about genting uphill, yes, bear with it and accept the fact that it isn't suitable for stiff uphill, ok? It's quite good on the FC though, Taiping Boy, you might want to try to be gentle with your right foot to get the best FC out of it. I had driven a 5MT almera to genting and had trouble racing against a Toyota Hiace unless I revved it hard at 2nd gear. Bos, im a light footed driver until i drive almera. Still practising in the control of pedal..

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Jul 30 2013, 01:43 PM) Sorry, what do you mean by "Buang" when you mention "feel like gonna buang"? Almera had a high body. So whenever i take sharp corner or fast corner, feels like gonna skid or turn over. So my confidence is not there. Any good idea on how to improve this? Im not that pro about car.

QUOTE(harrychoo @ Jul 30 2013, 01:45 PM) the sound is very soft so u need to pay extra attention to it. for those encountered bad FC, maybe u can try reset the ECU? How to determine good or bad FC? I meant any guideline or sample to compare? Reset ECU need to pay??

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Jul 30 2013, 01:47 PM) As for the topic of the Almera having difficulties going up Genting Highlands, as others have mentioned it will have no problem going up the steep roads. It is just that it will struggle a bit at low speeds going up slowly instead at moderate speeds of more powerful vehicle. Imagine seeing a bus loaded with vehicles traveling at say 5km/h+/- up Genting. Perhaps the Almera will do around 20km/h to 30km/h up those very sleep slopes, and the more powerful cars will be able do quicker speeds up to 50km/h or more. Bos, on my first trip mostly i get 20km/h unless i floored the pedal. After few trip, i fed up d. What i do now is release the whole pedal when stuck at 20kmp and floored it quickly to rev it till i feel the pick up and lighten my foot. Its work for me at the moment. Somehow i felt that the first and second gear of almera is not that powerful. Hmm...

Hahaha.. I guess.. Bos 17" tyre and rim mahal leh.. Tein spring not cheap oso i think? Will worsen the FC also right? I test my colleague Forte. 17" really heavy steering leh..any other way? QUOTE(jfk @ Jul 31 2013, 05:09 PM) reputable mean u can see their branded tanker lorry (caltex, shell, bhp, petronas) to unload the product at their vendor station and not that silver/white paint non branded tanker. Water come from evaporate gas or some leak at refill hole underground. OEM petrol really cheap compare ori petrol from main supplier. BHP is among the main OEM supplier for petrol without addictive around klang valley. Does this meant BHP is ciplak oil?? BHP no addictive? Only Caltex the best? Kindly clarify before our car is doomed. Tq bos

QUOTE(jfk @ Jul 31 2013, 08:44 PM) Not like dat laar.. i mean BHP act as main supplier for OEM fuel without addictive for ALL BRAND need around klang valley. For sure BHP put their own formula for their own vendor station and others vendor put their own watever formula addictive back to their own center wit the oem fuel provide by BHP. This including all the runner2 for ceruk kampung station that need oem fuel. Nothing wrong wit the oem fuel but without the secret formula addictive they all equal to sub standard ron92. Later u all complain why this brand suck, that brand tarak guna pulak... hahaha.. beware yaa.. Oic.. Means BHP supply the oil to the rest of the brand as normal. Then whatever is added in is up to the respective brand? I always thought petronas is the taiko haha.. So the standard oil is Ron92? Last time i pump at Esso got one grey coloured pump is ron91 or 92? I remembered performance not much diff frm current 95.
