hey guys... i'm considering an almera, but the talk about only 1 coat of paint and the paint easily chipping off sounds quite scary.

also, wondering whether the fact that the seats are not collapsible pose a problem?

Soft paint is the common "characteristic"of nissan, not only almera.  Those that have paint peeling off are exceptional case.  Once the car is on the road, definitely will have some chips.
Foldable rear seats is useful if you always have to traffic oversized/long item, else it doesn't affect much.
*
thanks for the explanation kyleng.

as for the collapsable seats, my concern is always when i want to transport barang besar like furniture. i'm currently considering vios and almera. although almera looks quite strange (personal opinion tongue.gif), the dugong shape of the vios isn't that much better either...

what attracts me to almera is the huge legroom and boot space. what i don't like is the lower roof at the back.

i noticed the body paint is ok, but the part that easily chipped is the bodykit. so if u are not installing bodykit it should be ok.

and is the paint easily chipped only applied to white?

ya, the seat not foldable might caused problem if u want to carry long stuff, that's why i still keep my myvi.
can use to carry 2meter cabinet from ikea  thumbup.gif
*
if it only happens to white, then i won't be so worried cause i memang don't like white cars.... smile.gif heheh. and yeah hoh... good suggestion... since got myvi, can still transport stuff... smile.gif

I suggest you take VL than V...high specs with really worth for your money.. rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

that's what i did in the end... went to test drive the almera VL today. liked the drive and the feel of the car (perhaps it's because i only drive myvi so this is considered a big step up liao... heheh). the only reason why i prefer the V to the E is because of the dual air bags. i had a hard time convincing myself that one air bag would provide sufficient safely in the event of an accident. but if i was considering the V, by adding 3k, i get the keyless ignition + auto air cond + steering control switches. and since i managed to find a salesperson willing to give me 4.5k rebate, decided to put put booking deposit for the VL already. now waiting for loan to get approved.

unfortunately, i didn't manage to get the 1/2 price for the bodykit though. apparently because of the 4.5k rebate, they can't give any more cash rebates, so what the salesman did was to throw in solar gard armorcoat + security tinting worth RM1500 for free, which i think was pretty sweet.... so really quite happy... tongue.gif

i think what really made me choose the almera over the other cars in the same segment category was really the space. the boot and rear seat space is amazingly HUGE!!!! and for a guy like me with a young child and loads of stuff to carry when travelling, this was definitely a main consideration. the other consideration is the fuel efficiency which i've been reading about. hopefully my car will be able to get the amazing consumption as the forumers here....

If you have budget... then go for VL... but I just don't like the design of the Auto Aircone button.... just my view...
*
in terms of aesthetics, i think there are prettier cars (both interior and exterior wise) to the almera, but i'm buying it for space, and fuel consumption, so i'm quite ok with that. i'm also not a speed demon so i'm not too concerned about the slight underpower you feel when accelerating. thanks for the feedback though..

How good were the deals?

Well, booked myself a E spec this morning. Total discount RM4000 and Impul Bodykit for RM1500..
*
mine was total discount RM4.5k, free tinting (solar gard) with security feature worth RM1.5k because the impul bodykit cannot give cash rebate.

where did you book yours anyway?

2 years relief..same as other manufacturer offer..pay low for certain year...after that need to pay a bit higher than normal loan..

for me it's a good marketing strategy..well, from my view..on 3rd year..of course your salary will increase rite? but do not add a new commitment lor.. tongue.gif  tongue.gif
*
the jump for the tan choong loan deal is quite sakit if you ask me...

the interest rate is 2.75% IIRC and you will pay RM499 for the first 2 years, and then it'll jump to like RM9xx from the 3rd year onwards... sakitttttt.......

MBB approved with 2.48%
AmBank approved 2.36%

Of course I go for Ambank..

Deciding the color now. What color you get? Mine might be white thumbup.gif
*

wat is 2.75 IIRC ?

do we actually pay more or we jus paying back the gap of lower installlment ?
*
IIRC is internet shortform for "if i remember correctly"

you're definitely paying in terms of the loan amount because the interest rate @ 2.75% is already higher than the normal 2.48%. but whether the jump in the 3rd year is just backfilling the low payment of the first 2 years or whether there's additional amount, that i'm not sure.... best to check with the SA i guess.

not very positive.

i got a few colleagues wanting to remove it due to bad water mark issue and its not very easy to remove. (then again it's also very removable so their advertised durability is considered BS)
*
what would be your recommendation? and how much would it cost?

what is ur driving method?

for me i am quite aggressive with throttle when got chance, my gear changes only come around 3.5k or more
in the meter stated 8.6 but for me as long as average is 400km + for rm65 fuel consider not so bad which is about 11km/L
*
i'm very curious to know nissan can boast 14.9 km/l? and autoworld even says that during the test drive trip to malacca, the cars either matched or exceeded that....

from paul tan:

"Out of the thirteen Nissan Almeras in the media drive convoy (all of them automatic), the best achieved fuel consumption on that run was a staggering 24.8 km per litre, and the worst was 14.5, which is quite remarkable considering each car had three people on board, plus bags and other equipment in the boot. The average for all thirteen cars was taken to be 16.6 km per litre."

if this isn't the case, then i'll be really disappointed with my purchase because fuel efficiency was a top two must for me....
