They told me tutup your current account, then open a new free BSA. That's the only way.

At this point i don't mind any logical balance maintaining as long as i can open an account. Got to open an account either way too for paying the cc. Where i am theres only that single branch, no other branch thats reachable. Visiting them again for opening account physically would mean I'll meet with the same bureaucratic manager again, not keen on that. I'll swallow whatever rm8 rm10 for the debit card yearly fee since it won't be bsa.

Yeah would be nice if its a totally free bsa but got no other choice now. You guys with plenty of branch to choose from are lucky, I'm stucked with only single physical branch with kiasu branch manager.

Actually I been in your situation in sotong bank. My dad wanted to open bsa and being ask too many question even already have proof income like letter employment and payslip epf etc. reason given is its up to bank decision who to allow to open.

After further reading it is due to AMLA regulation, to prevent soo many dormant account and so on. After all, with this recent years, we can just apply internet banking without needed to open saving account to view transaction.

Back for alliance bank, back in 2007, it was easy to open account with alliance even still study ( alliance hybrid account as I remember) . Last year wanted to open BSA, luckily able to open due to I apply their credit card by pledge FD and opening bsa is seemless
