You can withdraw the entire balance now if not mistaken.
*
Account > 90d with RM0 inside will automatically be close.

QUOTE(steel52 @ Nov 3 2018, 11:07 PM)
So, currently which bank offer the best for saving accouint ?
*
Depends on what you want lo.

QUOTE(hong823 @ Nov 3 2018, 11:27 PM)
I noticed the philip money market you mentioned has 0.5% management fee pa and 0.03% trustee fee pa.

If deducting those fees would leave us with nett return 3.17% pa (3.7% - 0.5% - 0.03%) is that right? How does the fees work exactly for philip money market?

With that in mind, comparing with ocbc 2.9% vs 3.17% philip money market, would it be a good idea to sacrifice the 0.27% pa extra for the instant withdrawal flexibility of normal saving acc?
*
Wrong. 3.7% is already nett fees. So is 3.7% vs 2.9%

Not sure about that ,but as i read the basic saving account pds it state have af rm8 also
Maybe u try and let me know?
*
There's 2 type of basic saving account.
One with RM8 with unlimited atm withdrawal.
One which is free with limited of 8atm withdraw/month.

Most bank will sell you the RM8 one unless you insist for free basic saving account.

Just got replied from OCBC fb page as followed:
"Hi, we are sorry to inform you that all the accounts has annual fee. We hope this clarifies."
Apparently even the basic saving account is with annual fee, as stated in PDS from OCBC website.
*
QUOTE(Leroi2x @ Dec 5 2018, 07:42 AM)
Well ,i already told that early
But he insist his statement
And yet i think he dint even read the pds

Btw you may try apply for credit card for register online banking
But u still not able use instant transfer but u can use ibg
Normally new cc got promo like waive 1st year annual fee
*
Actually no. Because bank negara order. To operate in Malaysia, you need to offer a free basic saving account. If they refuse to give you a free basic saving account, can complain to BNM.

Of course customer service will tell you no free basic saving account as it's not in bank interest to give you free basic saving account.

Many local banks also denied having free account but when you press them or threatened them with BNM, they will let you have it.

Imanagw to switch from annual fee annual to free account. Here's how I went about it.
1. Go to bank branch ask can convert
annual fee paying account to free account. Answer is yes.
2. Endure lecture from bank officers said don't choose free account as limited atm withdrawals a month. If withdraw more than limit, need to pay money.
3. Told them don't care and insist on free account.
4. Give me some paper to sign.
5. Signed the paper, retain my account no, maybank2u login details.

already asked to convert but was told cannot. imagine how ridiculous they can force reclassification to PSA automatically last year with same account number but cannot convert from PSA to normal SA.

btw, may I know u converted from which MBB account to which free SA?
*
That time was using wadiah saving account. Just ask can convert to free one while keeping everything same. Told me can. Straight sign the paper. No need close account. No need open new account.

But could be based on account or change in policy. I did that was like 7 years ago?

yes, open and close simultaneously. they cannot just close primary CASA like that prior assigning another CASA as primary because currently having other Maybank products and access for M2U, as well as without scraping existing debit card.
i was not given choice to choose type of account as told only kawanku can opt for non annual fee. in m2u the account name is Savings Account, i believe it should be Basic Savings Account. how do i know the account type in M2U?

Added on
btw, just called MBB contact centre ask regarding no annual fee for PSA, was told it can be waived and asked to call them at the branch if staff don't entertain such request. i am puzzled who should i believe whereby both side are also under same entity. can u try go to branch and contact call center when staff don't allow u to opt for non annual fee so that i can revert my closed account
*
Is posted on Maybank 2u what kind of account it is.
Like mine I told them upfront upon opening an account I want a free basic saving account, I do not want the paid one and they told me gave me a free account.

it just show Savings Account in M2U. they told me it's Kawanku and i do not have any other options if i want opt for non annual fee type.
*
Then you need to call up customer service and ask your account is free or need to pay. Next time tell them upfront you want free basic savings account. During application there's option to tick free basic saving account.

Of course personal saving account could be one from maybank and not compulsory from BNM that all banks in Malaysia must offer options for free basic saving account.

Free basic saving account is a rule by BNM.
Annual fee basic saving account is also a rule by BNM.

Anything other than basic saving account is from the banks.

QUOTE(koala225 @ May 31 2019, 12:05 AM)
Do u have any slip for opening new account and close account at the same date for me to show the officer if they insist can't close and open account at the same time? I felt every branch given different answer, it is very hard to argue if I don't have any proof.
*
Nope. Throw it away. Again is a long time ago. Like 7 years back and as mentioned could be change in bank policy or your bank account doesn't let you convert to free account.

But if you are on basic saving account, I think can change to free one.

I faced same issue with Cimb. Just close and open new account. Of course they gave me dagger stares when I asked for free account.

only account closure slip as showed earlier. they did not provide any slip for account opening. the officer even offered to close the account o the spot when i was still considering to hold first while checking out the authenticity of the PSA issue. just call to Maybank call center if branch officer deny ur request.
do u mean Personal Saver account instead? did u get ur annual fee refund? branch officer rejected the refund whereby it was charged just few days ago.
called to customer service to asked that but they unable check that in their system if it's not charged (yet) and asked to refer to branch for checking.

i supposed the newly open Savings Account is pay per use (non annual fee) since they already know the purpose for opening the account due to PSA does not have the pay per use option.
*
Call tomorrow during working hours. Now bank maintenance time.

QUOTE(#Victor @ May 31 2019, 12:36 AM)
don't cancel, u have to pay for issuance of new debit card. assign ur existing card to new CASA prior closing the current linked CASA.
*
I will cancel and apply. Why? Pay one time RM8 fee is better than paying yearly RM8.

is not maintenance issue. already called during evening, was told to check whether an account is pay per use or annual fee type, only branch can check that or another way is by looking if there is annual fee charged to the primary account.

Added on
just got call from MBB regarding feedback with PSA annual fee issue, was told PSA is compulsory for annual fee as they already verified with the product owner. they will investigate on their officers that provide the wrong information.
during the call, was told that the charged annual fee can actually be refunded based on the branch's discretion.

TL;DR: Personal Saver/-i Account is an account that compulsory for annual fee. Refer to the Clause 12 in regards to the unlimited withdrawal fee.
Terms and Conditions
*
There you go. Personal savers us maybank account. They have every right to charge you annual fee. If you had applied for free basic saving account then yes us free.

QUOTE(koala225 @ May 31 2019, 02:22 AM)
What is the purpose to cancel and get a new card? I already get charged rm8 annual fee. reissue a new card have to pay rm12. The problem isn't solve, I'll get charged again rm8 next year because your account type didn't change . the name still Personal SA
*
When you close account, you close your card also. You want a free account right? Since they don't want to convert, that's th e only way. BTW free basic saving account does not get charged for card.

What I plan to do is don't tell them anything just inform I want to open account. After open an account, then proceed closing old account because I want to change home branch and whatever excuses. Then I can skip the hassle look for customer care.
*
If you don't tell them lagi they open paid account for you. No banks will open free account for you unless you say you want free account.

I should shoot her I save money in your bank and u are using my money and loan for others to earn high interest, u should give me high interest instead of charge me annual fee and giving pathetic interest which unable cover up the annual fee.
*
Normal practice by all banks in Malaysia. That's why need to know what you are opening and not blindly signing the paper. When you know what you are opening, this kind of stuff won't happen.

Ah make sense. If that's the case just close and open account. Issue settle.

Anyone here knows what's the main difference of Kawanku Savings Account with Personal Saver account by Maybank?

I heard someone said Kawanku will be default savings account to be opened by Maybank unless customer request otherwise. But i came across this Personal Savers which i couldn't get much info online.
*
It's a good account as you can get to keep the bare min in it. I keep only rm1.00 in this account. Downside is you need to make sure it's free. You need to go to Maybank and tell them you want the free version.
