Chill out bro. Not directed to you. It was meant for their marketing staff who managed to fool buyers into thinking it is Malaysian Made.

I have nothing against China made but I have everything against BS marketing.

Actually, they never did say the Mercury was Malaysian made. The only phones that were made in Malaysia were the old blueberries they used to produce. Now everything is made in China, assembled in Malaysia.

Blueberries was made in Malaysia for real? I'm shocked!

Oh by the way, now everything is assembled in Malaysia? Or is it repackaged in Malaysia?

Again I tell you guys. I have nothing against China made phone as long as it is good and worth the price.

yes or no its hard to get the direct answer unless there is staff from the factory read this thread.
but sadly, nowadays no local ppl working in this type of factory (from operator up to factory manager all foreigner).
do u expect the company local CEO interested on their after sales feedback? salesmen only interested to know how much their commission portion. hmm.gif
so the confirmed answer would b material always made in China, assembled and warranty by nobody in local.
Then only u will at least change a hp every year. That is the future market what they want. icon_rolleyes.gif

Honestly, nearly every darned appliance is China made. Like some of you, I have no qualms with China made phones. A phone is a phone to me, as long as it can make calls with clarity and send SMS. A smartphone with other apps is a bonus.

As with the Mercury - after rooting it (yes I rooted it finally!), it's faster and has more available RAM. I also changed the fonts to a more designer typeface. Honestly, if you ask me, my old CSL Switch Planet mi400 and my current Mercury performs way better than the Sony Xperia. The battery for the Xperia sucks big time BUT the CSLs - they are fantastic! Hopefully the next lineup of CSL phones will have more RAM.

Moved Opera Mini browser to SD card. Tried to remove VIKI but couldn't find it in the superuse list. Not sure if I should remove other useless apps like maps and location.

Any advice from the rooting experts out there?

Before rooting, remaining RAM = 65MB. After rooting, total remaining RAM = 185MB. That's a significant gain!

Apple is made in China. Apparently, they also torture their workers.

Like Proton. Malaysian body, Japanese heart. Well, whatever it is, the Mercury does the job and DUAL-SIM too!

New contender on the smartphone market. Mozilla has just launched a smartphone. This is good as it gives Android and Apple a run for their money!
