motherboard is related to hardware, try reflash firmware

most probably is software problem.. if motherboard the your friend S3 would NOT had heartbeat==> cannot 'on' at all

cannot say for sure guys. Previously i had calling problem (signal goes to no coverage & comes back when calling out). Sent to samsung & they change Mobo.

Will advise him to reflash firmware.

haihhhhh. wanted to play2 with custom ROM. but cannot bcoz need to warranty soon. got problem with da lcd.

No idea , u can try after u increase it's charging voltage to maybe 1500mah . I never tweak the charging voltage b4 , only USB charging to 800mah for stock 375mah . And it does make a difference after tweaking .

it seems that your phone motherboard faulty like other unlucky owners

was your phone being charged overnight and next morning found it not turning on anymore?
was your phone running stock rom/firmware?
what was your phone purchase date?

It's a con job when the seller claims it's original unit when it's actually a replica regardless of it's AP or no warranty/oversea-self-imported units .

hrm i did left it charged overnight but morning I can still make calls but after about 15 minutes the screen can't turn on (LED is still flashing indicating got msg) so I hold the power button in hope to off and boot it again, only to found it unable to boot at all afterwards.

Rooted, Running ARHD v15 ROM

Gotten from Maxis around end of June

i tweaked mine to 1100mA (ac charge) & 525mA (usb charge)

check at samsung cyber service center, say my s3 repair already completed woo...but it now at USJ. maybe waiting them to send back???
hopefully...life without smartphone is really painful...hahaha

bear in mind that increasing the charging rate will shorten the battery life span. you need to make a balance between charging speed or battery life span.

a lot of them were charging overnight and next morning phone dead, and right before the phone dead they saw LED blinking blue but screen wont turn on regardless of any button pressed. once removed battery then they couldnt turn on the phone anymore.

some of the users saying their phone act weird, slow, lag before the phone dead, did you overcome any of these symptoms?

most of the dead phone were running Jelly bean 4.1.1 or stock based custom rom (like omega wanan or ARHD), but there were also some reported running on ICS or AOSP rom, so it seems not related to rom.


a lot dead phone were actually first batch phone with the sticker stating "Made by Samsung"
do you mind to check where did your phone made from? take off the battery, check whats written on the sticker.

if your phone detected the charger is AC, it will limit the current to max 1 ampere, regardless of how high the ampere rating of the charger.
but i have seen once at note 1, i use 2 ampere iPAD charger to charge it, the software will pop up a notification saying it detect high voltage and it disabled charging to protect the phone..

a piece of advice, dont go for APs... you might get a fake, seriously, the build quality is quite close with the original set.
