IINM the 2-3 yrs thingey is for "routine maintenance/service inspection" to ensure the airbags & related mechanisms are in good working condition...

if im not wrong, airbags can only tahan 5 - 8 years, depend on cars. if over that period, the dashboard there will have a flashing/blinking airbag signal, ask u to check ur airbag stuff like that. expired airbags can still pop out during accidents, just that it might not pump up as usual or becomes powderish.

but in malaysia with such PMS weather, I think its kinda hard to maintain the Airbag. Cold, Hot, Humid... causing the bag gets thinner and thinner i guess...

seriously u do not maintain the airbags, as it is like a tear and wear part. even if u dun explode it at all, after the expiry date, the airbag will just degrade. if im not wrong, proton cars (i mean common ones) have cheaper airbags when it come to replacing a new airbag.

Me juz Googled re Lifespan of airbags....
Majority of results quote a mininum lifespan of 10 years!!
And even airbags, fitted more than 20 years ago, hv proven 2b still in working order....

So me feel we shld not b unduly worried nor concern ATM....agreed?

yeah, airbag is only 1 time use but what I meant is that we have no idea what's going on with the airbag inside due to the weather.
I mean touchwood what if its really nipis jor and then accident. 10 airbag also cannot save life.. lol..
So its kinda hard to predict what's the condition of the bag..

That's what I found as well. 2-3 years is ridiculous. Maybe get it inspected every 5 years.

what if they find the airbag faulty? do they replace FOC or we need to pay for new one?
