I worked there on a project basis for a texas based company over there.

I dont know salary wise since i was paid in USD and my company put me up at the hilton jumeirah hotel.

Bring lots of sunscreen and get yourself a camelbak hydration pack just incase.

Oh, so your working in drydocks world dubai, thats where my ship was dock for repairs.

Will you be working in the docks or in the office building?

doesnt drydock world provide accomodations to their staff or subsidize living arrangements?

How much are you making in malaysia that the salary in dubai is not enough? Rm10k a month isn't petty cash. Plus there's no income tax.

Im making not even half that amount.
But it depends based on my activities. Sometimes i can get the same amount as that.
Thats why im asking for oppinion.
I asked few people and i made my decision
I just dont feel like it worth it..
I made a new deal with them though and asking for 21k as adviced.

I am really appreciate to those who share their thought.

Since your NDT, are you working freelance or with a company? I'm guessing if your working with a company, if you do work overseas or OT, your allowance claims and OT rate could push close to 10k but i doubt it since as you said your not making even half of 10k right now.

Plus in dubai, alot of the NDT technicians down there are indian nationals who may have alot of experience then you do and are willing to go lower to secure a job.

Since you have PAUT training, you can find companies who specialize in it and their daily rate is crazy high, i know one malaysian guy who worked on contract basis in Azerbaijan doing PAUT and welding inspection on their major gas lines over there and he was raking approxmitely USD1.5K a day for his services due to the time saved during inspection of orbital welds which is the distinct advantage of PAUT.

Besides making approx double what your making in malaysia, if you havent worked overseas, you can further enchance your networking to the overseas market which can land you a more lucrative job or contract. I worked in singapore for an NDT company which serviced some of the big name clients like transocean, BP, Shell, sclumberger, NOV etc and IMHO, i got more out of making friends in those companies and showing them first hand my capabilities then the money i was making in the inspection company since working in an environment whereby you are exposed to a far larger company demographic "opens more doors".

That was how i got a job with transocean and now with shell on contract basis in japan.

Sometimes its not the monetary gain which is most important but the intrinsic value that you get from working which is more important.

Wow. Nice one bro. So u are NDT man too?..
Ive asked around bro. To those NDT man freelancer who work abroad. They said not worth it.
Im currently working for company. Until now they failed to get project for PAUT. So i always do MPI and thats why i said my salary not even half of that offer . But if my company got a project, maybe i can score double than the offer.huhu
Im looking for PAUT jobs, didnt know that they offer me a job for UT
I agree with u bro to open up a new door, networking and connections. But still, im working for money. There are sacrifices made working abroad, and i just dont think it worth it.
Btw Singapore is a really nice place to start. My friend now in canada after a year as a crosschecker in singapore.

Former NDT technician, i've now branched into welding inspection, HSE risk management.

PAUT are specialized work and its usually used for either cross country or for high production gas refineries like the exxonmobil plant and the SPT project in jurong island singapore. At the time, oceaneering was providing PAUT orbital weld scans for the SPT project.

You could try SIA aeronautical engineering since they have requirements for advanced NDT methods such as PAUT, TOFD and fiber optic videosccpe visual inspection. Plus their olympus biggest customer when it comes to their ominscan flaw detectors.

You could also try turboscope specialty inspection service which was previously southsea inspection but was bought over by NOV. These are based in singapore btw but for turboscope, you maybe required to go overseas on assignment.

Well i guess you'll just stay in your current position till something better comes along. Good luck.

If you dont have any oversea experience, least grab it and see how it works for 3months..if u find u cannt afford then go back to Malaysia.

Dubai have so many Indian which accept even 5k dirhams to secure jobs.

Depends on you actually, u already married or single status?
