Ive been offer to work in dubai.
The basic salary is 8500 uae dirham
Plus accomodation 3500 uae dirham

I would like to ask if any of u hv experience working there
Is that salary ok?..
Or just work here in msia..

It's ok but everything is expensive there,especially in Dubai itself.It helps if you are not a spendthrift

I will be working in a dockyard or sipyard in dubai. I will do inspection for weld integrity. NDt to be specific.
I heard a lot that dubai is expensive.

I worked there on a project basis for a texas based company over there.

I dont know salary wise since i was paid in USD and my company put me up at the hilton jumeirah hotel.

Bring lots of sunscreen and get yourself a camelbak hydration pack just incase.

Oh, so your working in drydocks world dubai, thats where my ship was dock for repairs.

Will you be working in the docks or in the office building?

doesnt drydock world provide accomodations to their staff or subsidize living arrangements?

Actually, my opinion based on my friends experience...he just come back...he worked as a mechanic with monthly salary over 20k....for an NDT,you should been offer more...what level is it? How many method you have...?

How much are you making in malaysia that the salary in dubai is not enough? Rm10k a month isn't petty cash. Plus there's no income tax.

i think u should just go and accept the offer. tax free is a big plus and you might continue working there for years, without tax.

Im making not even half that amount.
But it depends based on my activities. Sometimes i can get the same amount as that.
Thats why im asking for oppinion.
I asked few people and i made my decision
I just dont feel like it worth it..
I made a new deal with them though and asking for 21k as adviced.

Since your NDT, are you working freelance or with a company? I'm guessing if your working with a company, if you do work overseas or OT, your allowance claims and OT rate could push close to 10k but i doubt it since as you said your not making even half of 10k right now.

Plus in dubai, alot of the NDT technicians down there are indian nationals who may have alot of experience then you do and are willing to go lower to secure a job.

Since you have PAUT training, you can find companies who specialize in it and their daily rate is crazy high, i know one malaysian guy who worked on contract basis in Azerbaijan doing PAUT and welding inspection on their major gas lines over there and he was raking approxmitely USD1.5K a day for his services due to the time saved during inspection of orbital welds which is the distinct advantage of PAUT.

Besides making approx double what your making in malaysia, if you havent worked overseas, you can further enchance your networking to the overseas market which can land you a more lucrative job or contract. I worked in singapore for an NDT company which serviced some of the big name clients like transocean, BP, Shell, sclumberger, NOV etc and IMHO, i got more out of making friends in those companies and showing them first hand my capabilities then the money i was making in the inspection company since working in an environment whereby you are exposed to a far larger company demographic "opens more doors".

That was how i got a job with transocean and now with shell on contract basis in japan.

Sometimes its not the monetary gain which is most important but the intrinsic value that you get from working which is more important.
