Refer OCBC website with good FAQ.
http://www.ocbccards.com.my/overlay/CCServiceTaxFAQ.aspx

Btw, 2 wrongs doesn't make 1 right, I.e. Bank Rakyat's case.

Also, I think probably most bank's sales person are to be blamed for misused of the word "waiver".

Amex FAQ: http://www.americanexpress.com.my/membersh...exfaq010110.pdf
"4. Can I request for a waiver?
No, I am so sorry that we can’t waive the service tax. However, we are glad to inform that you
may redeem the service tax using your Membership Rewards (MR) points."

HLB FAQ: http://www.hlb.com.my/pfs/cc/ccservicetax.jsp?flag=ccimpnote
"Can the service tax be waived?
No. However, we have extended our reward redemption option to allow our Cardholders to use their reward points to redeem against the service tax. "

Ambank can't seem to find their FAQ, however this is stated in their AMBonus Rewards Porgram: http://www.ambankgroup.com/en/Personal/Car...Redemption.aspx
Which they termed as GST Waiver Redemption: "Now with only 5,000 AmBonus Points you can offset your Credit Card GST! "

CIMB FAQ doesn't mention about GST waiver: http://www.cimbbank.com.my/index.php?rp=card+gst

The point we are trying to highlight here is GST is levied on the cardholder and the bank "technically" cannot waive it. They are only paying on behalf of the customer by giving out "offset programs" eg points redemption, or if one spends above certain level, etc... program.

Hope it clarifies. Let us drop this and go back to the discussion on Citi's card.

Called up to ask the CS about the new PremierMiles with Amex.

They say PremierMiles with Amex is for new customers/application only.

Existing PremierMiles with VS card is still valid and no need to change. No news whether those who renew will get back the VS or Amex.

PremierMiles with Amex will still be under credit card and not charge card functionality.

I notice you just need to spend RM2 to get 1 point vs existing VS RM3 to get 1 point.

hmmm......

Alot of Asian countries are not into Amex. Better to stick to Visa.

2 different product because one is under Visa n one is under Amex. You could have ask if you want to convert to Amex, will they transfer the existing miles over wink.gif

I wonder if we can upgrade to this PremierMiles AMEX for quicker PremierMiles collection.

that's what I am wondering also.... But I think I wouldn't because I only got 3 cards from 3 different issuer - Visa, Master & Amex. So no need 2 Amex... haha

yeap... what chokolato does is legit. Because they still need to issue the ticket coupon. So one half is passed to the driver and the other half is the "receipt". So technically can claim if company allows transportation claim.

If I apply for a Citibank card at the Sunway Pramid kiosk, will I be able to get the card on the same day assuming that there's no issue with approval?
*
Yeap, should be doable I.e. their 1 hr card promotion where easiest is using EPF statement which also cab printed there. Else if normal payslips and all, employment verification might need to be conducted so more hassle.

Why do you need to create another account to reply to each other?!

I have been lenient enough to let this account of yours "live" while I know you are indirectly advertising. Yet you still want to create another account!

Just received this month statement and citi charge me annual fee + GST.
After called their management and the staff informed me citi has decided not to waive the annual fee for me....
So, I also inform the staff just terminate my card immediately on the spot.
So, do I still need to pay the annual fee and GST?
*
Annual fee am not so sure. But GST no need IF you cancel before anniversary, or after anniversary within 30 or 60days (can't remember) you call in to cancel without using your card. This is GST is meant for the subsequent 1 year.
