In response to my query on the conditions for renewal of the Global Priority Pass (GPP) membership for Citibank PremierMiles, attached is a screenshot of the reply from Citibank Malaysia.

Attached Image

As per Citibank's reply, an active PM credit card will be based on if:
i. Customer spends actively at least once a month; and
ii. Customer renews the PM card with annual membership fee paid.

Does that mean the GPP membership will not be renewed if we manage to obtain a waiver for the PM card annual fee of RM600? rclxub.gif

That is not good, who will pay the RM600 annual fee just to get the 2 free entry?
*
Exactly. Who in his/her right mind would fork out RM600 for the sake of 2 free Priority Pass Lounge entries? Correct me if my interpretation is wrong, anyone? rclxub.gif

Now all bank look at ur salary and epf statement. Or strong business statement. Ur past for all the high limit from other bank is past. Now eith new bnm ruling everything is based on ur salary and DSR(debt service ratio) even u got 10k income and qualify to apply platinum but when bank check ur record they can still offer u lower card type because the bank cant offer u the limit required for platinum.
*
I believe the BNM ruling and the RM36k income threshold are basically to determine whether your income falls below or exceeds the threshold, and if it falls below the RM36k threshold, you'll be governed by the said ruling.

Beyond the annual income of RM36k, the banks still have the discretion to grant you any card type and any limit they are comfortable with based on the banks' own credit assessment of your financials.

any cashback card from any bank are better than this card. CashBack based credit card > reward points based credit card

Either that is a naive and prejudicial remark, or you are just stating your personal preference.

The returns from a cash back card are not necessarily better than a reward points based card.

Yup, this i agree. They have better merchant discount compare to Maybank. But this is more like side benefit. laugh.gif This is 1 of 2 reasons i still keep my Citibank card.
*
What is side benefit to you though, maybe be the main factor for another person in selecting that particular card. smile.gif

noted with thanx alvin89 ... yeah, i remember it was called classic card or something like that ... during those days, to enable gold card, you need at least RM48K / annum while platinum requires RM120K / annum ... but now you've all sorts of cards and platinum has lost its shine ...  laugh.gif

i hope to be able to keep this card as souvenir even if i decide to upgrade for reward platinum ... but do you've any idea if the annual fees (for reward platinum) can be waived as easily as my current card?  hmm.gif

cheers ...
*
It's a newly launched card, so I guess nobody knows for sure. But as there is a provision for waiver, I suppose it would not be waived as easily unless you fulfill the requirement for waiver, ie, for every RM15,000 you spend annually, the fee for 1 rewards category will be waived the following year. For example, if you spend RM15,000 per annum, you get to enjoy waiver of RM100 for 1 rewards category for the following year. Spend RM30,000 and you'll get waiver for 2 categories, ie, RM200.

In any case, you get to enjoy 2 rewards categories for free in the first year based on the current promotion.

For subsequent years, you may cancel all your rewards category subscriptions, ie, subscribing to none of the categories. But I suppose by doing so, it would defeat the purpose of holding this card.

Anyone has the details of income requirement and annual fee on this new card? This would be the 5th card in Malaysia offering unlimited Priority Pass Lounge access.

Need at least RM200,000/pa. Not sure how much is the annual fee.

@WhitE LighteR
Yea. Same design as the Citi Prestige in US.

@MilesAndMore
Thanks. Just found out that the annual fee is RM1,000.

Newly approved new-to-bank Citi Prestige cardholders paying the annual fee of RM1,000 and making a minimum retail transaction of RM3,000 within 3 months will get 180,000 Citi Rewards points. For current promotion exclusively, the points can be used to redeem 1 unit of Nikon 1 J2 camera with double zoom lens kit worth RM2,718, but limited to the first 1,000 redemptions or while stocks last.

My suspicion is that Citibank applied an internal branding of this card rather to use what VISA/Mastercard card categories/level.
I have observed that the card is not marked with neither the World/Infinite/Signature which is normally associated with Premium level cards.
Update : It just might be the first World Elite Mastercard in Malaysia!

chokolato I do not want to be sounding rude but if you have the mentality of Free/Waive AF for Citi Prestige, I wish you all the best as you may not deserve such cards. These are (if I've correctly understand it) true Premium cards from Citibank vs. Citi Premier Miles which I think not a Premium card as many think it is due to the naming convention used.
*
Yes, it's the first World Elite MasterCard that I know of in Malaysia. The World Elite category is not even on the MasterCard Asia Pacific website.

The card is not marked World/Infinite/Signature but the MasterCard logo is in silver colour, ie, World Elite MasterCard.

Actually a MasterCard logo in silver doesn't necessarily mean it is a World Elite MasterCard. A few US Banks have been issuing MasterCard with silver MasterCard logo for a few years already. The Chase World MasterCard for example, has its logo printed in silver.
*
I see. Didn't realise that. Thanks for pointing out. icon_rolleyes.gif

After applied online... the Citibank CS just called me this noon and told me that prestige world elite mastercard is similar with elite world mastercard and higher rank than world mastercard coz of the "elite" words. (Dunno about this)
and the CS told me seriously not once but twice that the annual fees of rm1000 imposed strictly cant be waived (i didnt ask about this waiver why need to mention if wanna apply for premier card funny CS lol)
minimum income must be more than rm200k per year.
I will update again if my application approved...

@MilesAndMore
Just recalled that the AmBank World MasterCard has the silver MasterCard logo too. icon_rolleyes.gif

@rathian_mhfu
Yes, the World Elite MasterCard is ranked higher than World MasterCard. You can see the description at this URL: http://www.mastercard.us/credit-card-world-elite.html

Did you throughly check the website to look for the **Terms & Condition or you just look at the picture and got excited ?
Always look at the fine print and I can't emphasize the numerous times which I mentioned this. Please tell me and all of us here and say whether there's any fine print or not to the gift ?
*
And furthermore, "The Camera is limited to the first 1,000 redemptions or while stocks last".

Hi there,

As i am the existing citibank customer, they informed me they will credit the reward points of 180,000 (can redeem for exclusive nikon camera) ONLY IF:
1. upon minimum spending of RM 12,000 within 3 months upon approval.
2. Payment of annual fee of RM 1000.

Well, it's while stock last and not a guaranteed welcome gift. You have same terms and condition?
*
Should be RM3,000 within 3 months of approval. Extract of the terms and conditions:

4. Subject to these terms and conditions, an Applicant whose application is received before the expiry of the Promotion Period and is successfully approved by Citibank will receive 180,000 Citi Rewards points ("Sign On Welcome Points") provided that within 3 months after such approval date ("Qualifying Period"), the Applicant must:

a. pay the annual membership fee of RM1000; and
b. make a minimum retail transaction of RM3,000 with the successfully approved Citi Prestige Card.

11. e. The Camera is limited to the first 1,000 redemptions or while stocks last.

Just submitted my letter requesting for cancellation of my Citi PM last week.

Not too happy with the service. Been a Citi cardholder for 6 years with not a single late payment. Requested for the new design PM card with card replacement fee waiver. Request rejected.
