on tcu n ecu adaptive programme, it will learn through out ur driving to set the most balance between power n fc. Of course, it can change anytime when u change ur driving style, but that is depend on ur throttle input n etc. But the key word is the balance. All the adaptive pattern is save in the ecu n tcu rom. It wont reset if turn off the key coz it will save it. For ur daily driving alone, the ecu n tcu will recognize ur driving pattern n try to give u the best balance. But if somebody drive ur car n have diff driving pattern, it will be in free mode(without erasing previous data of course@reset),depend on input, load, condition n etc. Unless the other driver drive it for along time, then it will save another set of perimeter to suit the best. Thats why everybody wont get the same fc, even driving on the same route, n the response also diff to diff car n owner. If the owner is an agressive driver, it will suit itself to give the best efficient between power n fc.

Its hard to explain coz if driving manual, only ecu involve, shifting pattern is manual as the owner is the one slotting the gear. But this involve another set of ai which is tcu. While fix auto has fixed gear, not many alteration can be done through adaptive, but cvt is totally diff. Ratio is wide n stepless. It can jump@skip to any ratio depend on drivers need. Its a complex alogarithm.

Yup, u can talk to the malaysian pug technician, but u need to remeber, they only from the slide, they dont involve in the pwrtrain rnd. Not saying they are not good, but for any technician, they dont need some deep info@knowledge coz they r train to do service, repair n update as instructed, not doing the mechanical development or software elements.

There's diff between engineer n technician. Engineer may not capable to service ur car, but they know their specific related field such as software engineer. But tech can service ur car, but they dont know how to do programming.

may be for proton's next model?

“Next year there will be a new model,” he said, adding that Proton also needs to work on the D-segment as there’s no more Perdana. “Proton wants to be in all segments,” Lukman declared, while also hinting at an SUV. No dates were given, although the new model in question should be the Prevé hatchback.

It was reported in the press yesterday that DRB-Hicom’s Proton has signed an agreement
to buy all engine technologies and knowledge developed by Petronas since 1997 at
RM63mil.
• Proton will have immediate ownership of a more powerful yet fuel-efficient, naturally
aspirated and turbocharged 2.0 litre- and 2.2 litre-engines. To be exact, Proton is taking
over seven engine technologies with 117 technology patents from Petronas.

• To recap, Petronas in 1997 had begun developing Malaysia’s first commercial engine
project called the Petronas E01. This was a collaboration between Petronas engineers and
development partners as a result of the former’s involvement in Formula 1.

• In fact, back in 2006, Proton had signed an MoI with Petronas to develop larger capacity
engines and with a view to explore the development of Petronas engines for mass
production and for these engines to be fitted into Proton’s models. The plan was to use
them for Proton’s 1.8-2.2 litre range but this did not materialise.

• Management had indicated that the updated version of the engine is currently being tested
in Proton Exora and Preve models and it is looking at rolling out new Proton models fitted
with engines developed by Petronas in 1Q2013.

• We are not ruling out the possibility of this engine being fitted into Proton’s models in the
pipeline, namely Preve hatchback and Exora facelift model.

• Apart from good value for more-than-decent engine technology, E01 engine produces
similar power to Honda K20A performance standards. There will be additional income for
DRB given that Petronas had earlier signed a deal with China’s Nanjing automobile to start
mass production of the NE01 engines in 3Q2013. However, details are sketchy at this
juncture.

A new model just launch 7 month ago and still in production CANNOT get/find spare part? All completely soldout?

Vendor currently out of stock? So factory Preve stop work waiting for seats to come and fitted later? OR new Preve tempoarary no seats fitted

How Proton make cars?

Preve May2012 resale value == Preve Jan2013 (2012 made date) resale value (consider 1 year old car)
