Is SCB usually this slow in approving cc?

I signed up at 1U's roadshow I think 3 week ago already. Even the booth is already no longer at 1u, but until today still no news about my application.
*
Calvintam,

It probably outsource agency for Standard Chartered Bank, Outsource Agency for SCB only around five company. usually will only take 7 working day for application if there are no delay or requirement for document from SCB.

Adolph,

I applied the supp card about 2 weeks ago for rm 300 cash back. I submitted the IC but, unfortunately, it could not went through. Thus i resend on the next day, which is monday with exact case number as the email title.

The next day, someone from Price SOlution called me and request for an IC since they could not locate through email.

Before i resend, i was told that since it is applied via PRice Solution, i will only receive rm 280, which i am absolutely fine.

But, as you mention, the cash back of 300 only applicable to the person who applied without a block or glitch. So, what is your take on this issue?

Thanks
*
Cactus1,

Just like the information provided by the term and condition, if there any request for further or clearer documentation requested by banks, then will fall under category part B, which give RM250 cashback to principle card. If there is any breach such as blocked, terminated or suspended then will not be given any cashback even it entitled for cashback, make sure during cashback period the account must be fine.

Would like to ask here, refering to this Page, the Welcome Gift is 25,000 AirAsia Big Points, but the T&C link at bottom of the shows 40,000 AirAsia Big Points.

When I signed up for this CC, I was offering only 25k BigPoints, it's 15k points lesser vmad.gif  vmad.gif
Why got 2 values for same promotion??
*
The airasia big point for 40,000 is the previous promotion, all promotion currently will be going for 25,000 air asia big point only. When Worldmiles firstly launched, it offered at 40,000 points.

There will be no penalty, the only way to cancel card only by calling customer service. Once request had been raised, they will transfer the call to another department also known, AAU department for cancellation. If call drop, AAU department will contact customer back within 5 working day period. But however, the rules may change and varies according to bank policy.

Shoduken,

Only for one supplementary card, the bank may reward you for RM600 cashback but will become a reversal amount on next month and become as debit rather than credit, if bank found out that you apply for more than one supplementary card. A reversal usually inccured because errors from the bank due to mutiple reward issues. Please refer to term and condition before do an action that may lead to reversal.
"successfully apply for one new supplementary card and whose applications are approved by the Bank for any of the following credit cards issued by the Bank".

QUOTE(pinksapphire @ Aug 3 2013, 05:31 AM)
So the person wouldn't really know whether they get that cashback for sure (for multiple supp cards applied) until the end of...90 days. Cuz have to wait 60 days to get it and if wanna confirm that it's not a bank error, then must wait for additional 30 days to see if there's any reversal...correct?

A different question. I'm thinking of applying another principal card from SC. I read somewhere here that the max principal card I can go for is 2, can anyone confirm this? I'm looking at the RM450 promo (apply for the type that doesn't have supp card) but I recalled there's also a Groupon offer that gives Philips Soundbar. Do you think they may reject if I try my luck with that?

Thanks ahead!
*
Pinksapphire,

That's not why i mean, i mean some people will get it because of multiple application signed up. there are people who get it but don't get any reversal, that's why I say if bank found out later. The reversal usually happen why there are multiple cashback, annual fee reversal or GST reversal. Yes, you may apply for Philips Soundbar, as long your income more than RM48,000 and apply via groupon website where it will link to Standard Chartered website. The promo only for peninsular customer only and not opened to west malaysia. The application that signed up multiple application for cashback, the new customer only can be entitled for one reward upon multiple sign up plan and customer that apply under this promo will not be given cashback apart RM55 to offset the government service taxes (GST).

But please be reminded, when you purchase an item and paid via standard chartered bank card. you will be charge from 0.15% till up to 1% administration fee / international transaction as visa and mastercard international recognize groupon as oversea transaction.

Bearbear,

In order to save time, you can call dedicated customer service within 24 hours to check whether you hold any past credit card whether it single or joint account, as long it more than 12 month expired date then you shall consider as new customer to standard chartered bank. Prior to that, you can apply 1.99% balance transfer except Visa Translucent which only offered 0% for 6 or 12 months.

I have received my worldmiles CC, in the letter stated
1. The monthly fee for the Principal CC is RM15.

Is this the annual fee? because i was told that annual fee for this card is waived for the 1st year, and call CS to waive the 2nd annual fee.

I not planning to keep this card for long, will terminate it after 6 months.
Only the big point attracted me, so i can book flight back hometown more frequently.
*
Caesarx,

You're partially correct, There are no annual fee but only RM15 monthly fee. If you apply from 22 April 2013 till 31 December 2013 then you will be given 1 year annual fee waiver, Worldmiles card is not same compare 360 reward Choice Point as Worldmiles point redeemption for airlines is 10 times lower compare 60 Reward Choice Point. CS only can waived certain month for 2nd year monthly fee but not every month fees, but may change depend bank policy for waivers.

QUOTE(venicelim @ Aug 4 2013, 12:02 AM)
I dont have any SCB CC.

Question 1:If now I apply for the Platinum Visa/mastercard + a supp card, I will be entitle for  both (1) & (2) below at the same time?
1) RM450 cashback (straight through application) / RM330 if not meet straight through application.
2) RM55 cashback + 15% petrol cash rebate for 6 months

question 2: must be apply online only? Applied through bank branch agent / agent seen in supermarket does not get the RM450 cash back?

question 3: clarification on principal & supp card:
Does credit limits share between principal & supp card?
& does the 15% petrol cashrebate applied for both principal & supp?
& petrol rebate of cap RM48 per mnth shared together by principal & supp?

question 4: I view through the CC info on SCB website. Dont see much difference between gold VISA/MasterCard & platinum VISA/Mastercard. Can pls enlighten me?

question 5: I dont see the T&C mentioned annual fee waiver for 1st / subsequent year. Example. Platinum card annual fee RM250. How much annual fee for supp card? & how to get waiver?

Thanks a lot for helping.
*
Venicelim,

1# If you apply for promo campaign for Cashback up to RM450, you will not be given cashback for petrol rebate, whether you can choose for cashback up to RM350 for principle or petrol rebate for 6 months. For petrol rebate, RM55 actually is to offset the Government Service Tax (GST) rather than paying it for the first year.

2# If you choose for Raya Cashback campaign, you must apply via online and submit document within 24 hour to be entitled for Business Gold, just take an example you are going to apply Gold card for RM300, also known Part A: Straight Through Application CashBack. Part B will be consider via agent or online because insufficient document after 24 hour periods then only be given RM250.

3# Yes, credit limit is share together with all card even though you have multiple SCB credit cards. Petrol cashback only be given to highest level of cards and only principle card are allowed. RM48 for petrol cashback will not be shared among principle and supplementary.

4# Yes, it is not much different since insurance coverage not longer be given to standard chartered credit card holders. Most people only apply because the class level and the limit that can be increase is much higher compare to gold.

5# If you apply under cashback RM450 then you will be given 1 year fee waiver, while petrol cashback promo will be given 2 year fee waivers, to confirm the annual fee waiver under promo code, you may call 24 hour CS. For principle gold card, you must use at least RM7k per annum to be entitled fee waiver while Platinum RM12k per annum. If you not fall under this category, you may call CS to request waiver but subject to approval by the banks or by using your 360 reward points. GST can be waived by request or 360 reward point as given,

10,000 points = RM50 (principle card)
5,000 points = RM25 (supplementary card)

QUOTE(red_scorpion @ Aug 4 2013, 02:02 AM)
actually for SCB card, no need to worry about the annual fee. Even though your card do not have free 2 year annual fee, but SCB still very generous to waive the Annual Fee for you, and even GST. As long as you retain their card, any fees will be waive. Some even get rm50 retention offer + annual fee and gst waiver.
*
Red_scorpian,

That's not correct, the annual fee waiver will be subject to term and condition. If there are block, no annual fee will be waive and will be subject to your segment score. If you don't believe, just have a try to call to Standard Chartered and ask if all customers can be waive. If you are saying you get it, it not mean all people will get it. If your segment change one day, it won't matter how you complaint, they will not waive anything for you.

Hi adolph,

thanks very much for your detailed explanation.
Another question:
Example RM450 cashback campaign if successful in straight through application, I will get
principal gold RM300 - RM50 GST = RM250
supp gold RM100 - RM25 GST = RM75
Total cashback obtained = RM250+RM75=RM325 only. Correct?
& this rm325 will be held in the account to offset subsequent monthly statement balance, correct?
I dont see any terms mentioning this rm325 will be expired within any period.

Compare to 2nd scenario:
If now I apply for the card under 15% petrol cashrebate & later apply for a supp card under the RM300 cashback promo, I will actually get
supp card RM300 - RM25 GST = RM275 cashback
+ principal card still entitled to 6 months of 15% petrol rebate.
This might seems to be a good deal too right? But just not sure if manage to apply for a new card, get it approved & proceed to apply supp card & get it approved within this month.

thanks in advance.
*
Venicelim,

1# Yes, if you apply for Gold and submit within 24 hour then you will be given RM300 cashback. There are few manager from SCB informed that there will be another cashback to offset GST, but based on my last conversation with Price solution Manager, out of the RM300, RM50 will be paid for GST. The cashback don't have any expired period, it just like a credit to swap for retail purchase and that amount will not be refund via cashier order because it a cashback. Based on term and condition,
"Eligible Customers who meet Part A requirements of this Campaign will receive a RM55 Sign-Up CashBack initially. This amount will be credited into the Eligible Customer’s credit card account upon approval of the application. The remaining balance of the Sign-Up CashBack will be credited within 60 days from the approval date"

2# As long you already owned your principle card then will be consider as existing customers. If you pick for 2nd scenario, there will be extra RM5 credit after deduct GST for principle card.

Ic. So just maintain a good repayment record so that our segment score is high, then the chance of getting waive will be easy right?
If your record is good, and Bank A still dont want to waive, just terminate the cardas there are plenty of credit card in Malaysia, most of it offer annual fee waiver or free for life.
*
red_scorpian,

That's correct but make a good repayment will not ensure you get a better score. it will be revising your from other loan account and banks too. There are no such thing as free for life except invitation from banks or supplementary card only. please don't trust whatever salesman promise you as they remain as salesman. Fee waiver will be subject to bank policy and need to do a certain amount before they can proceed it for you, which mean you have to contact bank for waiver. you may check and read everywhere in SCB, not stated anything free for life. Fee waiver only given to staff under employment with SCB.

since I dont need supp card, can I just apply for a principal card (say plat Visa) to get just RM350 cashback?
*
Venicelim,

Yes, you may apply under platinum visa and get cashback for principle card only. Revised for requireement for platinum card from RM48,000 downgrade to RM24,000 per year with immediate effect start this month, which mean lower income people can now apply platinum card with only RM24,000. i gave information based on term and condition too,

The Campaign is open to New Customers who:
(a) successfully apply for and whose applications are approved by the Bank for any of the following credit cards issued by the Bank (“SCB Credit Card”) during the Campaign Period:
• Gold Credit Card,
• Platinum Credit Card,
• Preferred World MasterCard Credit Card,
• Business Gold Credit Cards,
• Business Platinum Credit Cards

"New Customers" mean applicants who have not held any Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad credit card, whether as principal or supplementary cardholder.

Hi, adolph and everyone. Just so you know, I currently have the Platinum Visa already, so I don't think I can apply for the Philips offer since it's for the same type of card.
I have two options now, whether to apply for the other offer (RM300 Groupon credits+Powerbank) which is for Mastercard or sign up for the RM450 Raya cashback.
If I go for Raya's promo, I think I should be able to select Business Plat/Gold which does not have supp card so I don't need to take up an additional supp card (it's only RM100, that's why I wanna exclude supp). This should give me RM350 if what I gather from the forummers here is correct.

Is this what you guys would do too?
*
pinksapphire,

All of the campaign you are stated only opened to new customer which do not held any SCB card within pass 12 month only. if you are existing customer with platinum visa card, you can only apply for supplementary card which give cashback up to RM300 till end of this August 2013.
