while most of you are having fun chit-chatting here.. i was busy testing out VPN aggregation/bonding to see if it is an option for me to speed up my connections.
I'm not trying to proof anything but just want to share. i'm lazy to take any screenshots but here are the results in my words:
I subscribed to a Singapore-based VPS - oneasiahost.com. It is the cheapest about (USD10/month) I can find closest to us as I need as low latency as possible for my tests.
Set-up a zeroshell image there and follow some web and youtube guides on how to setup the VPN bonding, managed to get it up and running. However, the results were not promising. The limitation is at the VPS end. Maybe the host that I subscribed to didn't have the speed that they claim.
The way VPN bonding works is it combines multiple WAN connections from one place to another place which has a fat pipe out. For example, we have 3 x 2Mbps WAN connections bonded with 100Mbps WAN connection. The maximum speed we can achieve is 6Mbps. But if we have the same 3 x 2Mbps WAN connections bonded with a 1Mbps WAN connection, the end result will be limited by the 1Mbps connection. These assumptions are based on a very low latency connections between the two sites.
Unless we can find another place that is very low latency, high speed connection and cheap, this method doesn't benefit us at all. I'll stick with my E398 now and continue to jealously read this thread on all your high speed.
