QUOTE(MrAkay @ Dec 10 2012, 07:50 AM) technically both same je. but its called bersanding/bertandang to differentiate girl & guys side only even i got in the wedding industry oso duno anything not many people know lol, i found out after i masuk wedding industry they said the dust stops appearing when u hit 3k pictures. atleast, thats what most people say. why not wait and see first? btw, i heard after 3k, the dust will go away, but also the oil, so after 3k reaching to 5~6k, there's gonna be a mechanical problem pulak because of the reduced oil..anyone can confirm this? |

one of my 2-year-old D700 is showing 'err' inside the viewfinder and also the top LCD. it was my backup body just now and its attached with the sigma 50mm 1.4+SB600. any of u guys ever kena the same situation? it just got that 'err' but i still can shoot, and the flash fires, no black frames. it didnt happen again after that 1 time. never happened before and im kinda scared if it happens again while im on an assignment so for those who ever kena this thing, pls share ur thoughts ya thanks guys |

QUOTE(razuryza @ Dec 27 2012, 01:26 AM) lemme kasi tips.. no need mentor also can.. just try n error. then u know already the settings. different situation n condition is different settings. thats all.. pre shoot, so that u can know whether the setting is ok or not. so the next shots should be ok la... this one very gud tips.thats for events or wedding la... more events and weddings(experiences), the more u learn.. hehe.. by the experience of course.. practice alot - go anywhere shoot, when u boring2 take ur camera shoot anything in ur house, learn about ur gears, lighting, composition, settings, try and error (lots of this), try different lighting conditions, and yes, like bro razu said..the more u shoot, the more u gain experience, that's a natural learning environment if one read alot, go to alot of classes, buy alot of expensive gears, but never really practice what he/she has learned from the class, never take his own sweet time to understand those expensive gears, no point loh practice. i always believe in it |

guys, forgive my ignorance but i have a super noob question to ask.
i own the sb600/700/900/910 - but i NEVER know about this TTL BL i read about it and its about balancing the ambient light and the flash output..right? but it seems that most of the time, its giving me underexpose results. (just to note that im always on TTL FP rather than TTL BL FP) so what am i doing wrong? any sifu wanna guide this noob? thanks! |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Dec 29 2012, 12:33 AM) if not mistaken, TTL BL is default on all the flashes except sb600...so i dont see why u dont want to use that mode. its not that i dont want to use that mode. u see, as i shoot weddings, i use auto ISO all the time. i rarely change my iso accordingly. i let the camera calculate it for me. and so far, the CLS is doing really well. so i was just exploring things just now and i found out that there's TTL BL. decided to read about it and tried it. and most of my pics were underexpose. just for ur note - im using the D3s and the D700 for testing.TTL FP also is not proper flash and is already underpowered as it is. if u read the manual or any guide, it will say something like this - the flash uses a sequence of pulse flashes to get round the sync speed limitation so that it can sync with as fast as 1/8000 sec but at reduced flash power. The higher the shutter speed, the greater the flash power reduction. i understand about the FP part but i set it to FP (in camera's menu) due to sometimes i went outdoor all of a sudden. so the FP helps in bright sunlight. QUOTE(Calvin Seak @ Dec 29 2012, 12:42 AM) Yoyo good question! Let me share something that I know may be right and may be wrong thanks for ur explanation buddy. If its wrong any please do feel free to correct Yes you are right about TTL-BL (Only on Camera's MATRIX MODE) What it does is that the camera will calculate the total amount of ISO to get a balance exposure throughout the frame and include the power from the flash for the main subject. Imagine if your camera ISO wasn't bump up! Anything infront of your camera will be blown out due to the power output of your flash that is why the camera will calculate both ISO and flash output for you. What TTL-FP(will only be enabled if you put Auto FP on your camera) What it does is that instead of sync-ing it at 1/200th or 1/250th it enables you to shoot at shutter speed till 1/8000th of a second but like Everdying mentioned it greatly underpower the flash. I hope I've helped hehe again, i understand about the FP thingy. but what i dont understand is, i tend to get good exposure results when im using TTL, n underexposed results when im using TTL BL. so, what am i doing wrong here? or is it just the way it is? |

QUOTE(Calvin Seak @ Dec 29 2012, 01:50 AM) Eh I think its the other way around! >.< bro, this actually really helps. haha thanks alot man!Im so sorry! I tried shooting with my D800 and SB910! Got this from Dpreview "iTTL-BL works very well but it is not designed to be used in a low light situation. It is designed to provide supplementary light to the existing ambient exposure. Use the BF function to fill shadows and reduce the contrast in a shot that you can also get without flash while still getting a properly exposed image. situations where you might use iTTL-BL, A back lit portrait, an interior shot with light streaming in through a window as part of the shot or on a bright sunny day when the eyebrows will create shadows around the eyes like a raccoon." http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/thread/2...m-post-30379892 so one problem solved, another one to ask.. i've been using Sandisk 8GB n 16GB for a while now. i got some really bad experience with Lexar so im not gonna use it again. (Lost of of my files that time - thank God there's a 2nd photog) as for my lower MP bodies, i use the 8GB cards alot. i love using small GB cards (as i think to myself if i filled 2 8GB cards n one of em failed me, i still have the other one. rather than using a 16GB card and i lost all the files..like my Lexar..sigh) so 2x8GB in my D3s. for ur info, im using the cheap2 Sandisk Ultra. and i do get some corrupted shots. its not totally corrupted, but its corrupted. say about 3-corrupted-shots out of 4000 clicks. here's some example. its shot with 2 different cameras (D3 n D700), and 2 different cards. but both cards - Sandisk Ultra. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « so i did some research, some said it was the card. i already got the Sandisk Extreme for my works now, but im just wondering..is it really the cards? or there's a prob while transferring? i transfer my files using the USB cable, not the card reader. any of u guys had this problem? its a big prob if i only got that one shot, and that shot's ruined. haha |

QUOTE(razuryza @ Dec 29 2012, 04:40 AM) ^ never had this problem before. i once had a problem with cheapo brandless cf card.. everytime i shoot, no need to wait till transfer.. just when to view on the cam itself, the pic will be gone! lol if that's the case, maybe its the CF card! at first i thought it was my camera, but then change camera oso kena..zzz QUOTE(celciuz @ Dec 29 2012, 05:23 AM) Looks familiar! I had that issue on my D800 while I transfer from my memory card (Sandisk Extreme CF 16GB) to my computer. Very similar to what you're getting, just mine is purple color instead for the lines. hey hey hey! looks familiar too What I did was, I copied the files from CF to computer once again, and for the same NEF file I have both a corrupted one and a good one. And what I'm using on my hard disk is a disk fragmentation manager called Perfect Disk and it has some on the fly optimization from each writes, I disabled that and so far have not experienced any corrupted NEF. So pretty much I don't think my case is affected by camera or memory card, but somewhere when I transfer from memory card to my hard disk. seems that on my camera display, its good. once transferred to LR, the corruption shows. scares the shit out of me i'll try and do what u did, see if it makes a difference. thanks man! anyways, nice panoramic shot buddy » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

Planning to get it for my D7k. or anyone here have a better suggestion for it? budget around rm2k... i wud reckon the nikon 10-24, used it before and its quite sharp. tried 2 copies of the tokina 11-16mm, its quite good but i'd personally choose the nikon. somemore its 10mm. its about 2.4k for a used set i guess..add abit more lah but if ur really on a budget, the sigma 8-16 is quite wide and good too |
