anyone know how to differentiate this lens with this icon_question.gif
*
price and spec different lo biggrin.gif
but 50mm at d7000 is very narrow from my point of view la, it will be very good if u plan to go FF next time.
but overall overview the 50mm f1.8g is winner for the price u pay.

Again, did you do any micro adjust on the lens? My 35mm required about -8 micro adjust as well else all of them would be blur! Then again when I tried my 35mm on 2 other D800, it had different offset value.. one is -15 another is -3 only.
help me micro adjust tongue.gif
i try to test my lens with the chart i got from online but nothing being done...catch no ball...
hahaha

Got difference in image quality, you can see some detail review comparison from some sites. The G have rounded aperture blades, so the bokeh balls will be different too. Also from my experience, D lenses generally output cooler images while G lenses output more warm images shooting the same scene with AWB. Though, it's just a simple test.

The new G Lens, AF is also silent and allows Manual Override, and the focus ring does not move when focusing, unlike the D version which will move/rotate when focusing.

i notice this as well on the 35mm f1.8g and the 50mm f1.4d/f1.8d
the g one give warmer color compare to the d one

thanks for everyone who explain the difference between 70 -200 fix aperture and 70 -300 variable aperture to me... just came back from dinner and i taken some shots with my kit lens. still not know how to set the correct exposure XD
*
very simple one...in ur viewfinder u should see something like the picture (circle in red). this thing call exposure meter, if not show go read ur manual how to get it out.
user posted image

how to read this thing...u will notice that there is an indicator go left n right.
going to left -> image under exposure (dim or dark)
going to right -> image over exposure (bright)
what u need to get is the indicator stay at 0

example, the indicator now at very left side (under exposure)
in P mode, u can increase the iso (u will notice the indicator moving to right side when u increase the iso. too high will create noise)

in S mode, u can slower the shutter speed. but for movement object, too slow will make ur photo become blur. ISO also can be increase if u want to have faster shutter speed.

in A mode, u can make the F value smaller (open the aperture bigger), also can increase the iso. this highly depend what u are shooting. in some case u need bigger F value to make sure everything in focus the the only variable u can play with is only left the iso.

leave M mode at this moment smile.gif

if the image is over exposure, u just do the opposite setting.

focal length is 18 X 1.5 right. mean i cant take close range picture with my lens since it cant focus. Correct me if i am wrong. notworthy.gif
*
check ur lens spec online, u will notice something about this
Closest Focusing Distance - 1.48 ft. (0.45m)

this mean that u need to have at least 45cm from the object, then ur lens can focus smile.gif
different lens will have different distance.

Selling only the 17-50 is not enough to buy both prime woo...some more the 85 on d7000 is so narrow, u want to shoot head photo only?

Haha, thanks man, I guess this "golden" rule applies to everything huh?  laugh.gif
Still, looking at the specs, some of the lenses were released at 2000, that's a very long time ago yo despite its higher price..
Not sure whether the technology used is different or not?  hmm.gif

THanks for your reply too sifu, much appreciated  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif
I agree that prime lens really give much, much better image quality than zoom lens (I have a 50mm 1.8)...
Despite the very impressive image quality, I am not very comfortable with not being able to zoom in and out haha I am noob but I like to take random and "impromptu" shots, so I guess its nicer and more fun to have a zoom lens haha, probably backed up with a prime lens for "prepared" shots XD
*
I think they refer to 24-120 f4, try find that see got or not.
I am using the kit lens from d600 24-85mm, in term of low light conditions, it will hunt like mad. but it was good in normal condition, zoom range is good enough and it was light enough to carry around.
At this moment I looking at 35-70 f2.8d at ebay smile.gif

Even now in ff, I hang 35mm more on the camera compare to 50mm smile.gif
Just base on ur preferences la.

The shape of the bokeh also depends on number of blade in the lens. As I know, d lens mostly will have hexagon kind n g lens is round kind.

UV filter is another element in front which will introduce more flare. Go commando la if you don't want have any more additional flare introduced.
*
really?
hahaha...i thought some filter like (Hoya Pro 1 Digital UV Filter) help to reduce lens flare n ghosting.
