My friend offered me around ~Rm2750 for his used D7000 body with 18-105mm kit len.
I'm quite in dilemma since I can get a new D5100 body + 35mm 1.8G lens combo cheaper ~RM2100

This is my first DSLR btw.
So any opinion guy, should i go with a new D5100 or a used D7000.
Thanks  smile.gif

So, is his asking price for the used D7000 kit reasonable?
Since idk the current street price for used D7000 kit.

And with D5100, I got new body and Nikon warranty.

Thanks

It is very worth it.. i sold my d7k body for 2.7k with 30k Shutter count..

D7k has both shutter n aperture dials which is justifiable already for me

since he's your friend.. ask him to let u play2 with it first.. confirm you'll fell in love with it. IMO it's better to go with D7000, the feel of the body itself is already solid. A new D7k would cost RM 3600-3800 with kitlens.

i tried those smaller ones for product, not strong enough unless u do longer exposure...so for portrait u going to need much bigger ones but i doubt u will still get enough dof.
stick with ur flashes.

I saw some tutorials on this guy using it... results seems pretty acceptable. Actually even easier to use than flash since its continuous, focus also easier IMO.

of cos can be done with led, just how many led are u willing to use to get enough power.
if ur talking about those smaller 120 /160 / 198 led panels, then you probably need more tongue.gif

anyway why cannot use a regular light to help focus? or even use one led to help focus?
then when comes to exposure time, set the flash to overpower those lights so u can get more proper dof / higher shutter speed etc.
same as for studio strobes which have modelling lights which are continuous also.

Yeap, was referring to those small LED panels.

I think the outcome's pretty good if based on the video as per above.

ah niekerk...got one of his books.
he doesnt show his exposure settings there, but i think hes roughly shooting around f/4?
tho i think that video is just a rough demo, cos the written stuff there says he uses it as additional light, not main light.

Not sure what settings, but its usable... plus modern camera nowadays can bump ISO up anyways. Then again, the demo he did only had 1 little LED light source.

i was looking at yongnuo also before.
but there is another brand i checked out called led-5009 which has 120 leds, but comes with its own rechargeable batt...which for me better since i only got 8pcs AA...and i want to use flash also.
maybe one day i go back check again and use a lightmeter app and measure how strong it is.
