3 main ways of flashing
1) Odin on PC -> increase counter unless its stock rom & kernel
2) Mobile odin on Device (its an app) -> NO increase in counter
3) Zip file (with proper updater script) through CWM -> NO increase in counter

Yes stock rom is odex. That mod need root.

sorry if my question sounds noob. is cwm already comes with stock rom or we need to have cwm before doing any flashing?

The recovery that comes with the stock rom is NOT CWM. You need to flash cwm first.
*
QUOTE(waveweaver @ Nov 16 2012, 03:22 PM)
Nope..you have to install CWM.
Or you can flash root that comes with CWM like Chenglu.
-Flashing zip files need CWM.
- Flashing .tar files can be done via Odin/MobileOdin.

thx to both of u. if i want cwm with stock rom, is that possible? iinm my last one x method was a rooted rom with cwm, not just cwm

Why are you still asking when you are already quoting the replies
Flash chenglu cwm onto your stock rom

ok assume i wanna flash omega rom and redpill kernel, my steps are

1. use the method 1 below

QUOTE
Update CWM Recovery(2012/10/14):

Update CWM Recovery to 6.0.1.5.
Change log detail in here:https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andro...mits/jellybean
Fix errors, and add the option to install zip from adb sideload.
Download:
1. CWM Recovery(Flash via odin): cwm6-recovery-n7100-121014.tar
2. CWM Recovery(Flash via CWM Recovery): cwm6-recovery-n7100-121014.zip
3. CWM Recovery with auto root(Unrar, Flash cwm6-root-n7100.tar via odin): cwm6-root-n7100-121015.rar

2. put in the omega rom and redpill kernel into my sd card

3. reboot to cwm and flash rom and kernel from there

tq

First you need root and CWM to install Omega rom.
1) flash Chenglu auto root + CWM  .tar files via Odin.
2) flash Omega rom via CWM
3) flash Redpill kernel via CWM
*
tq, that means the method 3 cwm with root. will be doing that tonight or tomorrow. after that i'm gonna do the multi windows mod tongue.gif

currently using S3(SME), thinking to upgade to N2.

but still think getting AP or SME.

my S3 root & using custom firmware from day1.
Just worry the quality for AP.

Anyone can suggest reputable AP seller?

QUOTE(Heavenn @ Nov 16 2012, 10:29 PM)
Both have the same quality. But for now, SME provides 1 year warranty only while AP now provides 2 years warranty. The price is about RM 200 difference between SME and AP. I got the AP set though, want to save some money now haha biggrin.gif

Yes sme and ap phones are genuine products but definitely the after sales service are different . Who really care the 2 years warranty when they take one to two month to return your phone from rma ? Yes u can save money buying ap when it cant save u from unexpected troubles in future
