I usually park my car at open area and most of the time will be exposed to direct sunlight and acid rain... Does coating help to preserve the paintwork??? Will send my car for coating next week...
Hahahaha.. We should go for TT next time laa... I belanja you at LG1 food court...
*
COATING is alike an extra layer of clear coat for your paintwork (some claim scratch resistance) but PROCESS of applying it is NOT EASY, you need to ensure SURFACE is swirl free and different coating has its own way of applying , drying (we call CURE time) and MAINTAINANCE.

Yes it somehow give better 'result' compare to waxing but as i said DEPEND HOW U MAINTAIN IT. Alot ppl have wrong mindset where i have done COATING my paintwork will be invincible and i only wash my car every month....

There is no such MAGIC product in the world work like this (at least for now), our climate acid rain will still create dirt film and bond to the surface...just that darker colour car not so easy to be spotted.

Any brand will do its job than. Daily washing will also keep your paintwork clean and shinning. Shinny is NOT the same as GLOOSY ho... rclxms.gif

Thanks for the info and this really open my eye about it... Will get as much information about it later from the coating shop how to maintain it properly at least...
*
They mostly will ask you go back to them from time to time for maintaince (to use their PH Neutral shampoo to wash) and then every 3-6 months top up the protection layer or something...

In order, you will be lead by them to keep making your $$.....

If your car is still new like only a few months and especially if its white, go do coating as soon as you can.

I have done mine with Sierra Glow at Subang. Trust me, u will not regret it.
The amount of time it takes to send your car for a good polish is the same as sending in your car for coating.
Price wise, i did mine sierra glow for only RM750, and believe me when I say it is not expensive.

The amount of maintenance that u do with your car on coating is rewarding. Just wash with PH neutral any ciplak brand shampoo will immediately bring back that shine.

Now how I maintain my coating? Occasionally I will send my car for a Macquire car wash, yes it may cost RM16-RM25 per wash.
But at least u are taking great care of your coat and paintjob.

Also once every month I will wash my car myself from evening time onwards just to have a personal feel and inspection of the car body, and also give it a good tender care wash on every crack and corners. Believe me, its rewarding.

Think about it, with RM750 can last you for years with a good warranty.
Have u ever wonder why certain cars u see on the road shines more while others shine but with swirls of hairline scratches...

By the way, the effort that those guys at Sierra Glow put into to give your car that shine and coating... you will know your money is well spend.

my 2 cents
*
this is very interesting information but i have some question here that i am interested to know the answer smile.gif

1. Can u recommend any ciplak shampoo that is PH neutral ? Does it state on the bottle ? What is the price like ?

2. Macquire or Meguiars ? How frequent is the 'Occasionally' u talk about here ? Twice a month ? Only exterior body wash ?

3. How do you perform the 'inspection' by yourself when you washing it ? Any special tool, method of washing and drying ?

4. How does the one year warranty 'works' ? Warranty in term of gloss level or how ?

Don't get me wrong, am not trying to word picking on your but i believe this information will help others to understand how good is SG smile.gif

Hello Mods... I'm a proud owner of Kia Forte 1.6SX 2012 here... please count me in...

I've been using my new ride since September (2012) and so far I have no complain on my FC... Of course expect a high FC on city (mine is 8.5 to 10L/100KM with 20% highway and 80% city)... just recently we've been to KL for vacation (I'm from Ipoh) with 3 adults and 2 children onboard with 2 large baggage on my trunks and on our way back to Ipoh from Suria KLCC I got 6.0L/100KM with 10 to 15 mins stop on R&R and with engine running. Here's a picture I took after I parked my car at home...By the way I'm not a heavy footer I always maintain a speed of 110KM/H at highway and seldom go to 130 to 150KM/H and that is only when overtaking  icon_rolleyes.gif

FYI...I went for full tank at Caltex near Suria KLCC so as you can see the fuel gauge did not even reached 2 bar after I arrived in Ipoh  rclxms.gif

How much was the refill back to full tank cost you ? Very good FC. Lowest come across now is 6.1 or 6.4L / 100km...from KL to Taiping (stop makan ) , all the way to PG (go around in the island)

Hi Guys,
just want to share my experience with my forte dvd navigator unit. mine 1 was the old batch which was bought in June 2012. At first the unit was working fine most of the time but sometime it just hung (radio mode) and i just restarted it as i thought it is a just small problem. However the issue became more and more serious where the screen will flickering, blurring, moving up/down, left right (like kena virus) and sometime it seemed like wanna get exploded (refer to the video that I posted in youtube then you can understand clearly).
i went to nz galaxy to ask for repairing and the technician just updated the firmware and asked me go back and try again. however the problem was not solved and accidentally i got the naza general manager (should be a top guy) hp number from internet then I called him and i thought to hang up since he is no longer in nz galaxy but he is very kind and said will ask the branch manager to call me. less than 5 minutes then the branch manager called me up like very worry and asked me go to their workshop for troubleshooting. I went for the 2nd time and the china FAE (standby there) to troubleshoot my dvd unit but only firmware was updated as the issue can't be duplicated all the time although i have taken some photos.
the next day when i was on the way go to work in 5am in the morning, the issue shown up again then i quickly recorded it with my phone. i sent an SMS to the branch manager to complaint again and the manager called me up about 7am (right after he woke up) and asked me go to their workshop and they will change a new unit for me directly.
hence i got an improved DVD-navi for free for the 3rd visits. The branch manager told me the new unit is an improved version (with LED) and i have tested it for few weeks now and it is really impressed as last time I always turned off the AF so that the audio is better but I'm always travelling between states so AF is quite useful for me. With the new unit there is no noise distortion at all with the AF on where I can enjoy my same radio station without to remember and change the radio channel as it automatically change it for me. thumb up for the good service although it could be the pressure from the general manager but at least the problem has been solved.
btw, i noticed the old DVD-navigator unit needs plenty of 3rd party cables/converters but the improved dvd-navigator unit can use the original cables from the forte directly.

after Sep 2012 batch should be coming with improved version HU where have a LED at the left bottom corner but then it take 10 sec to boot up....read someone posted it has better processor inside but radio sound still bad.

Experience that if your thumbdrive still plug in to the port the next time you off / on the HU (even with the improved HU) i will not detect, you have to manually unplug and plug back the drive again....but certain drive if you keep pressing the PLAY option on the player it will redetect back where you last stop.... thumbup.gif

can we use 10w50 for forte2.0?

Best to follow manufacturer guidance from the guidebook, alot ppl might think wanna use 'thicker' oil to eliminate the engine oil (create less friction to the engine) but that is not how it work as thicker oil might flow 'slower' in all the narrow passage (e.g hydradlic lifter ) which as result burden the engine more)....

other wise ppl will think use 'thinner' oil so engine will have 'less' burden but more friction (higher wear and tear)
