Hi All, anyone using combination of LA-EA2 + SAL35F18?

I just bought them fews days ago, and realise that the auto focus is not that accurate comparing to manual focus. Images with autofocus appear to be more blurr on edges comparing using manual focus.

Do you guys face this issue as well? Any recommendation to solve this out?

For that combo cost me around RM1800, same price as my NEX-5 edi. I bought them because I like the fast detection system, and looking for 35mm F1.8 lens.

But what disappoint me is on the sharpness of the auto focus. So, I am looking around for other forumer advice/experience.

yea, if Nikon & Sony TT together better... I'm a Nikon User converting to Sony, but still love Nikon a lot  tongue.gif
like i said, "Setup >Phase Detect AF Area" is just a indicated. Phase Detection are always on until ur aperture >f/6.3... and the metering is about exposure, not focusing
and i actually have the same problem where sometimes the Autofocus missed. So i always have my focus set to DMF mode

I suspect the issue u highlighted is similiar to what I experienced in my LA-EA2-NEX 5 combination. The default setting always looks to be out of focus, where manual gives sharper images. After looking around, I tried the AF Micro Adjust and I got sharper image then. How I did on the Micro Adjust is, using the chart ISO 12233 print out, place it on flat surface, mount the camera on tripod, at around 45 deg to the chart, use spot AF, and aim at the scale on the chart. try out from +20 till -20 to see which setting give the sharpest image on the Spot you focus at.

Hope this help.

Hi, any SEL24F18Z user?

I got my unit yesterday, and found that after I preview the picture, i pressed back the shutter button to return to live view, the LCD screen will goes blank, then the live view image becomes dark, then only SLOWLY (about 2secs) return to bright (where my aperture set is at 1.8). I observe the sperture blades, and found that it will stop at about aperture 3.5 (where the live view is dark), then only slowly open wide back to 1.8.

Do u guys experience the same as well?
