hellooo all, just got my nex-5RL .. i am a convert from M43 Panasonic GF1.

I am so far very impressed with it -- i would say a much much better camera for NOOB like me who just wanted to point and shoot a fast moving kid.

The focus and speed are just amazing -- and of course dslr quality pic. Very happy with the camera. I did not get a good deal .. bought from sony centre at 2450 with 8gb and case. Did not realize that i could get a tripod throw in .. total warranty is 2 years + 3 months. Good ..

All the sifus,

Have a question on nex-5r, had a field trip this evening at Pavillion. Indoor shopping mall shooting with Portrait mode. Took about 100 pictures and mostly iso in the range of 1000 and above.

I notice a problem -- pictures are not that sharp when viewed on the computer with 100%. Pictures taken with JPG Fine and none processed. Below is a sample. I focused on the "lady" in black but when i viewed 100% -- i realized the clothes on the rack behind is on focus while the lady is actually not. She looked in focus when not viewed 100%.

Anybody know what i did wrong? This is only a sample -- most of 100 pics i took are having the same symptoms -- seems like the background is in focus rather than the subject.

Mode used: Scene - Portrait. When taking picture, ensured that green square box is focused and highlighted on the subject. Auto ISO - Aperture is mostly 3.5.

this is what you have to learn together with your new camera... the LCD screen hard to tell you which item is in focus and which one is not until u view it in your computer...
like moon said, DMF stand for minor tuning using manual focus... utilize the focus peaking offered by your camera...

i have the same issue with my previous 5n, but after used to the system now ok d  smile.gif

Thanks all -- experimenting now with DMF and peaking focus although I am more like an PnS person.. smile.gif slow reaction and have a fast moving kid.

What does your RAZR charger look like? It won't charge with my DROID4 charger. The charge led will flash rapidly.

It wont charge on my samsung note charger.. 5v 1A.

anybody has 5r and experience abnormal symptoms. Mine just freeze today when i try to take a pic. lcd turn off with backlite on and the off on button stopped functioning. I had to take out batt to restart.
i googled and someone on dpreview faced similar issue.

Anothet instance was when i off, the lens did not retract. Had to on off again.

anybody experienced these issues?

i believe is the sleep mode on the camera caused the problem... try half click the shutter button to wake the camera...

u can change the setting at [Setup > Power Saving Start Time]
*
Dont think it is the sleep mode -- it freezed the moment i turned it on and took a snap. Not idling. I tried pressing all buttons. Eventually had to take out the battery.

Is the problem easy to replicate? When this happened, wat lens is attached? Can try other lens? If easy to replicate, better get it replaced...
*
I would say not easy to replicate - i had played with the camera for about 5 days and it happened only on one day which both incidents occured. The original zoom lens 16-50. no other lens bro. smile.gif

So just wondering if any forumer experienced the same thing ....

I was wondering something about zooming with NEX 6. When you zoom with the kit lens, we get this zoom bar. On the zoom bar, 16 - 50mm is ok, but there's a bar after that where the zoom starts to indicate 1.1x and etc. What is this? Cause I turned off digital zoom, so it should not be digital zoom?

I'm a bit confused by this. On the side, I also noticed that my shots are not very sharp. Everything looks good on the NEX 6 but when put to computer, some are really nice but a equally as many are horrible. I am wondering if this has got to do with the megapixel or the lens.

Hoping someone can borrow me a Zeiss lens to shoot. If Zeiss is good, I'd get one.

i am having the same problem here with nex-5r 16-50 zoom lens. Very difficult to get focused or sharp picture. Some sifus here recommended to use DMF and peaking. Tried that but it works on static object, not my kid. He wont stay there for me to fizzle with the manual focus.

I want to let go of the compact zoom lens.

Studio Zaloon Uncle Chin selling. Just went yesterday and bought one.

Sony Singapore has been selling for quite a while. But just last week, i went sony centre here, was told that they have not even seen the entry in their warehouse, so not sure when it will arrive.

Is studio zaloon carrying grey import or malaysia warranty?

i think nex-5r has auto focus issue -- i have it for about 3 months already. The auto focus on the stock 1650 lens is not sharp.

Is this the reason why dpreview has not published any 5r or 6r review?

i can't afford to dmf because the subject wont stay still for very long.
