Hi all, we are organising an online graphic competition, the whole website is written from scrath and it's now into the final testing which is open for all to join and feedback. Please visit the site at http://www.7Creation.com/ and give your comment. Thanks.

Following is the press release about it:

LABUAN.NET is conducting a final test for its graphic design competition website at http://www.7Creation.com/. 7Creation is expected to be opened for public testing from 15 Feb 2006 and be launched around 01 Mar 2006 if no major fault was found.

Labuan.net founder Alvin Han said 7Creation is expected to attract around 50 unique visitors per day by the end of the final test, and subsequently 350 unique visitors per day by the end of the entire competition.

The competition will be subdivided into 3 seasons which consist of the qualifying, semi and final seasons. Each season will be given a different design theme to challenge. Designers that have won each season shall proceed to the next season. Top 3 winners in the final will be presented with awards and prizes.

With the availability of a self contented forum, feedback form and graphics comment page, 7Creation has further created an interactive environment for the participants, designers and visitors.

"7Creation is quite exciting," Mr. Alvin Han said during the interview, "It is purposefully created for your pleasure. This is also a direct action to bring a different excitement to the Labuan community."

Specifically, 7Creation said there will be no cost to join and compete in the competition. Top three winners will however be offered with awards and prizes. In addition, the good news is everyone can join, regardless of the participant's nationality.

"We have a vision for 7Creation to be one of the special events in Labuan," the volunteered committee Mr. Gary Wong said. "Hopefully the final test will be completed with success soon."

urm.. the website needs serious thought of its site architecture.. here you say there are themes that are used for each challenge, on your website I can't find the current theme for the competition.

I'm sure Labuan.net can do better than just host a competition and award designers prizes from a competition that's even opened to itnernational designers (if I'm not mistaken).

The competition consists of 3 stages. That is, qualifying, semi final and final. Each stage will be given a different design theme to compete as follows:

* Qualifying Theme - My Home
* Semi Theme - Traditional Art
* Final Theme - Poster To Promote One Product / Service

Hi Etsuko

Thanks for your feedback. You are the second one that has feedbacked about the usability of our site. We are so glad that we are still hearing some voices around. I believe you are right. Perhaps the sign of the seasonal calendar isnt clear enough.

In consideration of the enhancement process, we have therefore opened the site for public testing since 15 Feb (beta version) until its launching date 01 April, in hope of rectifying most problem that could possibly be faced by the many others.

The calendar is allocated in the rules and regulation page. Perhaps, we will try to put a link from the introduction page to the rules and regulation page. Hopefully that will help. Would appreciate further if you would kindly provide your opinions for our consideration too.

Will you do us a favour? That is, to invite your friends along to join or visit the competition should 7Creation appeals to you, hopefully :-)

Thank you so much. Appreciate all inputs.

Best Regards

Hi enter

Thanks for the query. :-)
I guess you are asking for the definition of the theme name and here is my answer.

My Home is a broader subject and should be less limited unlike other themes and should be the easiest too. You may design something related to your home, family, family member, your culture, or even a scenery of everyone having meal together, etc. A graphic that will express warmth and comfort - a place or atmosphere you will call My Home. Be creative :-)

Traditional Art can be anything that brings in the flavour / taste of any culture. For instance, a traditional Indian fabric pattern, a group of African people dancing traditional in their traditional wearing with mixture of effects to make it look really traditional and acient. Again, it is less broader than the first theme. Something more challenging. The objective is to impress the visitors bacause they vote for you.

Promote a product / service. This is the most challenging part which may seem the easiest. You are required to "sell"!! I guess this may be your favourite theme. You may design a product or service poster that may have already existed or non existence. The point is to convince the visitors that you are a only seller of your product or service and worthy of vote. If you have a website, you may wish to design a graphic to "sell" your website and gain more traffic. I thought selling may be the toughest, maybe not you... wink.gif

I hope this is clear for you.
Should you have more enquiries, i do encourage you to use the forum in 7Creation. You dont need a registered username to post a forum thread. See yah there.

Thank you
Gary Wong

I'll do up an exclusive review of the website and see if anyone on my blog would have something to share about it later. That'll even help promote the contest in some way I guess.

Cheers.

About Pagerank:
http://www.google.com.my/search?q=define%3...:en-US:official

Basically, it's a patented system by Google to measure your website popularity based on linkages made to it. For instance, if you had a blog article with more than 100+ linking to it, that help increases your pagerank. The higher the pagerank, the higher paid ads you get if you have adsense and the better results will appear when searching Google in general.

Normally, if you searched to the specific address or name of the website it'll appear one of the first 5 pages in Google. However, the biggest challenge I've found is to make your website the top few pages while using general searches. For example; if you take 7Creation's graphic design competition.. if you searched on Google graphic design competition, the best is to get it on the first page. smile.gif

I used to think that too, but my PR5 sites aren't really giving good pay-per-click lately.

same here..

i think alot of other factors are being played now. as you know, Google likes to make things fairer for everyone and if you don't get the quick facts about the changes of behaviour, you won't get much. smile.gif

anyway, that's a whole other story.

Winning participants from the qualifying season will be given a dateline until the 24 Jun 2006 to submit the design source of their winning graphics. This is to authenticate the authorship of the artworks. Designers failing to submit the design source shall be disqualified from carrying on the participation in the semi final.

"Since the organizers of 7Creation are entrusted with the responsibility to verify the authorship of each artwork, we will try our very best to make sure that each participant is treated fairly throughout the process," said Gary Wong, one of the Founders of 7Creation.com. "In addition, we have constantly been receiving constructive feedbacks from visitors from all around the world suggesting for ways to improvise our infrastructures such as the point system and its usability. This shows a good sign of its growing popularity."

"The graphic design competition is getting fiercer. The first graphic was submitted on the first open day of semi final itself," said Alvin Han, a founder of 7Creation.com. "In order to gain more advantages of the timing for a higher voting rate, the participants have almost immediately made use each opportunity to market their graphics via Tell Your Friend, graphic description and the blogging facilities."
