Moko, congratulations on your baby!

As you may already know insurance main purpose is to provide PROTECTION and not INVESTMENT. Having said that, please keep an open mind on this. Many people I spoke with especially chinese thinks its taboo to talk about the condition of the unborn child. I do have friend who has to spend RM 20-25K / yearly due to hole in the heart baby. How he wished we had introduced this plan much earlier. His daughter is now 5 years old.

For your information, Prudential's PRUmy child policy can be attached with PRUbest start rider starting from 4 months from pregnancy.

It is every parent wishes to deliver a healthy baby but at times, there are complications during childbirth, be it for the mother, or the child. Comparing to most plans out there whereby it can only be purchased 2 weeks after the child is born, PRUbest start serves to bridge the gap through pregnancy, childbirth and as they begin to grow up.

Here are the benefits of the PRUbest start:

1. Pregnancy complications: Eclampsia, Abruptio placentae, Amniotic fluid embolism (RM 5K)

2. During pregnancy stage - Death of foetus (Total premiums paid or the total units in the policy, whichever higher)

3. ICU/HDU for premature birth (RM500 daily - max 30 days)

4. After child birth (within 30 days from birth) - Death of infant (Total premiums paid or the total units in the policy, whichever higher)

5. Incubation of new born child immediately following birth - RM200 daily (max 60 days)

6. Hospitalisation of child due to Congenital Conditions - Reimbursement of hospitalisation claims up to RM25,000 annually (up to age 2 years)

PRUbest start covers the following congenital conditions. Congenital conditions means a disability that the baby was born with and generally it is not being covered by any insurance should the child is born with that condition.

The following congenital conditions are covered:
Anal atresia, Atrial Septal Defect, Congenital Cataract, Congenital Deafness, Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, Infantile Hydrocephalusm, Tetralogy of Fallot, Transposition of Great Vessels, Truncus Arteriosus, Ventricular Septal Defect

You can take up this plan for your unborn child as early as 18 weeks up until 35 weeks into your pregnancy and if you are between 18 - 45 years of age next birthday.

However, it does not pay for your delivery medical fee. It is more towards protecting your and your unborn child of major hospital bills like hole in the heart babies.

In my humble opinion, honestly, plans that pays for the delivery is just a gimmick plan that ties you with that insurance company. RM 3K is not something we should be worried about as it will not cause any financial distress and we can't be broke because of the RM 3K delivery.

However, like my friend whose baby was diagnosed with hole in the heart and being slapped with the RM 20K yearly, that is what we are protecting our clients from.
