QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Dec 3 2012, 09:14 PM) For automatics, cheapest is Orient @ USD108 Hmm hmm...but somehow I find complicated watch quite..attractive. Somehow it has this vibe lah. But classy ones are freaking expensive...meh...http://www.creationwatches.com/products/or...watch-3187.html Citizen mainly do eco-drives and complicated looking watches while Seiko nicer dress watch are usually more than RM600. |

QUOTE(yonggoh @ Dec 3 2012, 10:02 PM) funny u say that... I do notice that there are many rich guys here, so I dare not compete lor. Haha. Im a bangla paid worker in KL unfortunately. =( My only watch was a Edifice. So tot of getting a nice yet not too exp dinner watch or a watch for special occasion. =)my most complicated watch is my "cheapest" (hours, minutes, seconds, chronograph, date, day) and my most expensive watch is just hours, minutes and date (not even bloody seconds! or even a screw down crown!) |

QUOTE(yonggoh @ Dec 3 2012, 10:15 PM) i also have appreciation for the sub hundred RM watches Hmm hmm...I can appreciate only up to that level nia...at most also maybe if I collect or naik gaji then I might buy a 1K watch to reward myself. Lul. Omai....what is the whole concept of a dinner watch though? =Xi have openly declared my affections for G-Shocks and Luminox on several occasions in these forums.... Am not too experienced with the dinner watch category tho , as I myself don't have a watch for the formal occasion. |

QUOTE(yonggoh @ Dec 3 2012, 10:54 PM) to me a dinner watch is typically: Haha....but leather strap is kinda vintage. Gives that class look. But James Bond that kinda watch(diver?) looks good also. Haha...cuz Im hunting for something that looks and gives this kind of impression like the GC watches. Hmmm- Thin with moderate dimensions (typically 39mm or less) - With only basic complications - Preferably on a leather strap (tho this thought could be deemed old fashioned) - Made of a precious metal (again some old world thinking here) ie, James Bond to me is a caveman wearing those diver watches with his suits/tux |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Dec 3 2012, 11:47 PM) I'm with Yonggoh on this. Yea, I agree on that too, but I am sure we're talking about watches that reach 4 digits I suppose? =( Hmmm....Any idea for an entree level like the seiko watches i posted? Or would other brand that fits a RM1K would be great as opinion. =)Definition of "classic" : a particular style, something of lasting worth or with a timeless quality Instead of getting a watch for the occassion... and some other watches when the occasion occurs, why not get something timeless that you can wear 10 years or more down the road. It's also cheaper in the long run. Neanderthal in a suit? |

QUOTE(tjwn @ Dec 4 2012, 12:34 AM) QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Dec 4 2012, 12:51 AM) Alternatively... if budget's tight.... then maybe a Tissot like the T-Classic Tradition. Both looks handsome. And tissot running at RM800....hmm, that's a good price. Hehe. Its a classy looking, thin, light, fashionably sized at 42mm, very thin and could make a nice office watch. Its also "just" a quartz but I don't reckon you're a purist and on the plus side, it should take more beating and no maintenance cost to worry about...just a battery change every couple of years. Not located in Malaysia but at rough conversion, you should be able to get it at around ~RM800 |

QUOTE(yonggoh @ Dec 4 2012, 11:34 AM) hahaha dun get me wrong guys... i tried on the JLC before at the MBS shoppes and it was just a tick over rm20,000 at the time if i recall... RM20K....that will take me approximately 4 yrs to get it with my salary vs spending. =(Quite significantly less than the RM50k+ asking price for the Piaget.. hence the term "poor man's version".... RM20,000/RM50,000 to pay for any watch is not something many people could just buy on impulse... It would take me lots of restrained spending and maggi noodles before my wallet has enough ammo to pull on another time piece... |
