"aura of desirability"?

I agree that a value of a watch is subjective depending on the individual person. But to suggest an inanimate man made object can exude an "aura of desirability" is grandiloquent. You have been bombarded by too many Rolex and Tudor ads.
After all, one must look objectively when making a decision.
For the price range of a Tudor Pelagos (RM13K), one could go for a Longines Heritage Column Wheel Chronograph.
It won't look awkward when wearing the watch to an office.
Unless you are a professional diver, you won't look like a poseur.

Still, if I were to get a professional diving watch, I'd go with either one of these rather than an over hyped ETA watch.
Seiko SBDB001Seiko SBDX011SBDX001OK. Maybe its a little exaggerated though its the same as saying that "it speaks to me" or some other more crude expressions.
Well since watches can hardly be judged on function and good value alone, "aura of desirability" is as good a reason as any.
I've a crushed for the snowflake but too horologically challenged to dive into world of vintage hence the Pelagos to me is like a modern snowflake with officially warranty

From this perspective, its not much more $$$ than a good conditioned snowflake.
