There's a chinese book that shows you how to make a model step by step and if I'm not mistaken all the demo is demostrated by Max Watanabe. I can't remember the name but I got the book, try to tell you by tomorrow.

I think it is bcoz of the transformation that makes it look bulky or rather retarded as u mentioned it. Saw Blitz in shopping complex recently, i think it looks cool, at least dun really looks disproportion...

Cautious in buying plastic crap != asking others to decide what model kit YOU should buy, despite the fact that most of the time, people buy model kits because they love the design/color scheme, and they'll tell you to buy a kit that they like, not a kit that you like. If you were to ask me which 1/144 HG SEED kit to buy, I'd recommend Strike Rouge +IWSP because the IWSP pack itself kicked so much ass (main focus on physical weaponry FTW!), although I would end up telling you to diss the 1/144 SEED line, and buy the much superior HGUC 1/144 Hazel or Advanced Hazel instead.,

Blast Impulse has a superior color scheme. I always adored Gundam units with forest-like-green camouflage colors, in addition to having a SURPRISE BUTTSECKS! hidden weapon. And profits? Bandai's a weird company, you know. If they only churn out model kits or toys if it's popular, we'd see the whole market being bombarded with 329487675 Destiny figurines/model kits already, as opposed to 329452376 Strike Freedom crap. The 1/100 Destiny was wildly popular among fans and outsold all of its other GSD kits when it first came out. But yet, Bandai still continues to churn out more and more SF crap. Bandai would've made an Astray Gold Frame Amatu already if they wanted to profit. Oh, and did I mention how bad the sales for GSD kits are, that at some point various Japanese shops are throwing the price out of the window just to make it sell?

I'm guessing discontinued only means they stopped production. My friend wanted a Wing Gundam Endless Waltz Custom MG...HLJ.com discontinued, but I still found them at the shops. So, like I said...you cannot use these sites other than to browse for what's in the market. Use it like a catalogue, don't see any other detail except maybe the size, weight, and release date.

The Strike Rouge + IWSP is indeed superior in its design, but the 1/144 looks like crap if you dont paint it.

You're doing it wrong hurr. You're supposed to use acrylic/enamel paints, along with a primer if you want to apply lighter color on dark surfaces. Apply light colored primer on the dark surface, wait for it to dry, then apply paint.

Acrylic and Enamel is the type of paints like there are water based paint and oil based paint when you go to hardware store/paint shop.

Primer is basically the base coat modellers put on the assembled model. Its benefit being it will highlight any imperfection - i.e. improperly done seam fix - and also acting as the good base for the paint to grab on and gives you the even base to paint... Tamiya makes a can spray though it can be expensive - heck all primer is expensive considering the amount one need to paint per model. You can get the bottle type but that's really for the air brushing so I'd say if you can find Tamiya's can spray would be the ideal/only choice.

for panel lining there are half million ways - ok. maybe not that many - to paint.
Gundam marker is alright though many people use the rotering pen for that since you can get the finer tip...
If you are interested check out Military modellers and see what they do.
They often use what they call washing - not recommended for Gundam models unless you are going to use for diorama with heavy weathering... Try Goggle as there are again half million or more web pages on these subject on the vast sea of Internet

ive seen those can sprays. so first i gotta spray it on (with masking tape right?) and then paint it with acrylic or enamel? then where does the gundam markers come in?

okay, ive managed to paint my kit with ONLY gundam markers. before this i mentioned that i cant apply light colors to dark ones; but later it was okay already cos i think the marker was still new, so it needed some 'warming-up'. the only problem is, painting with gundam markers are not very nice..cos the surfaces dont look smooth.

as for panel lining, im quite happy with the job done by the fine tip gundam marker.

primer comes in either grey or white if you want the white base coat...
one of main use of primer is to find out any imperfection before you start to paint and also gives the nice even base for the paint to grab on.

if using white primer well you could leave it at that followed with decal, lining, top coat, etc...

enamel and acrylic is just different types of paint. if you like think of permanant marker and white board marker. it really depens on the availability as for me getting Acrylic paint is far easier

I really don't recommand the gundam marker unless you want to do is pre-assembly with lining O_O

Yes Tamiya makes nice selection of Acrylic paints though I prefer Gunze as they have more wide range - so I don't have to mix paints
I do use Tamiya spray can when I see one for cheap but it's mainly for paint the diorama base or something I just need the basic cover up.  Other than that I don't use coz it's quite costly

for smaller parts don't need painting? Don't know which parts don't need painting with MG kits coz I only use MG and PG kits myself. Never do 1/144 scale nor HG kits

I use the paint brush for the small piece since it's not easy to use air brush and masking can be a hell with small pieces.  It's easier to hand paint 'em

well IMHO Gundam marker could be alright for smaller scale kits and even that at smaller areas unless you have the skill to cover large areas with Gundam marker and not have the stroke(?) marks - well I don't.  Using air brush will give you the nice even finish though properly prepared/thin'd enamel/lacquer could achieve nice finish with hand paint provided you have steady hands and patience

I'd say Gunze. I remember a hobby shop somewhere in Ipoh (I forgot where, it's in a building where a whole floor is dedicated to shops that sells animu crap/gaming crap/pirated CD/model kit crap) selling those tiny Gunze paints (small, rectangular, long container) for around RM6 or so.

For painting parts with paints of the same color, it's entirely on your personal taste. Some just leave it as so, some elitist paint everything over to reduce the plasticky look of it.

Stroke marks? What kind of marker you're using? Felt tip? Coloring the surface over a few times more after the initial coat's dried can reduce the stroke marks (at least that's what I did when painting my 1/100 HG Heavyarms Custom-EW)

NO. Toycity (at least the one in Melaka) is made of lose and fail. Don't ever go there unless you're a rich ******* with loads of cash to burn. There's no model kit shop here that sells model supplies cheaply (or at all). So far I've only seen them selling Tamiya's acrylic paints, going at RM14~18 a pop, and a Tamiya acrylic thinner (say, around 1litre worth of it?)for RM35... O_O

primer is kind of paint with small particles inside - it serves dual purpose as I explained before. You can get primer from other makers but it seems Tamiya and Gunze are the two most popular - Tamiya has a small pray can that can be found cheap depends on shops and sales day whereas Gunze has the primer in bottle so you can use w/ air brush

if you don't want to paint, say the white area you can leave it out though in my case after done fixing seam line and sanding I need to prime/paint anyway

if you don't fix seam line and just snap assemble you can put the flat top coat to kill that plastic sheen which makes the kit like toy

Gundam marker can be useful especially for panel lining though you can use the Routering(?) pen as substitute and it can be found cheaper

By right, 1/100 HG kits have a retail price of 2000yen, which translates to RM66. Which shop did your friend bought it from? There's two (not counting the third one selling Bendi crap) shops selling model kits at jalan Gajah Berang.

You're supposed to leave the paints dry (aka 'curing process') for a looooonnnngggg time before applying the second coat. Some even leave the painted parts over a day before applying the second coat.

Hurr I don't apply paints with Gundammu marker. I just black panel line'd them. Or outline the edges with the black panel line pen, before painting it with black acrylic for surfaces that are supposed to be black.

Ah yes, the pen. I think either there's some problems with the batch, with the retarder being ineffective in the markers (I got it from Teen@Com too, the emerald green marker) or they're meant to be made of lose and suck. I'm frustrated of all the stupid careful reverse pumping required before using it everytime. I eventually opened the pen and just drew ink to my 000 brush and paint the visors of my Wild Falken.

Maybe you should also do the same thing as I did? I applied 3 layers of the ink on the Wurger's eyes. Have no problems with new coat cancelling previous coat (PROTIP: paint it quickly, I find the ink dries up rather quickly... perhaps a case of old, old markers with retarder not working efficiently anymoar?)
