To Godevil :

MSIA - Like an above poster said, it is basically an action figure. The size is comparable to 1/144 scale HG kit (though Bandai has stated that they are in fact non scale) Older MSIA has very meh-like paint job and poor articulation. Newer MSIA has better paint jobs, more articulation and are more robust. Ideal if you like to play around with your action figures. (If not mistaken I think someone posted pics of Luna's Zaku here)

HCM-Pro - This series are also action figures. The size of these figures are stated at 1/200. These series usually come completely built but they have optional parts (beam rifles and beam sabres are still attached to the trees, so you have to use a cutter to get them out). There is a certain model making element here, nothing to hard for the pro's here. Eg. the stand for the Asshimar needs to be assembled like a HG model. They are also fully coloured and has good articulation as well, though there has been complaints about looseness in the joints, particularly the Force Impulse Gundam. (I think someone posted pics of dancing HCM-Pro's here as well)

GFF - Katoki Hajime produced, these are expensive prebuilt model-like action figures. Their size is roughly comparable to 1/144 size HG kit as well. They feature superior markings and paint-jobs. But it must be noted, GFF are not meant to be played around like regular action figures, if you must play with action figures get the MSIA. Though they have articulation I highly recommend you just display it and not let your 6 year old nephew, son or whoever mess with it. Some GFF sport a 2 in 1 feature eg. you can turn the RX-78-2 (Version KA) into a GM (parts are provided).

You can view these in the HLJ site or go to a toy shop that carries the 3 products to see the difference.

Did I miss anyhing? If anyone wants to add some thing, please do. smile.gif

IMO, it doesn't look all that bad. Me thinks the elbow joint is deliberately designed that way. If you look closely at the left arm, the beam shield is huge! The top of the beam shield looks like its colliding with the shoulder amour and would interfer with the "Mini-Wings" of the shoulder armour.

So to overcome this problem, the designers at Bandai probably thought that a rotating elbow joint will allow greater poseability.

Though I do agree with you that the Rafflesia Stand is awful!

I was there on Tuesday. I didn't see any IJ left.

But I was on Low Yat on Saturday and Fantasy Toys (1st floor) was having a pre-order of IJ for about RM120 to RM110, I can't remember the exact price, sorry.

For some odd reasons, the newer magazines are now selling at RM18 (the issue where they gave Trombe ver. Guarlion) over here in Melaka too, compared to the previous RM15 they have, for copies that comes with free crap.
*
In an earlier issue, it was announced that due to rising cost, they had to increase the cover price.

It was included in the magazine but was printed in mandarin. (I had a friend translate it for me.)

It's RM18.00 if a toy is included and RM9.00 or RM8.00 if no toy is included. You pay for the toy!

YenS, what's so blasphemous about that? Bandai has always been coming out with colour variants.

Finally a MG X-1, though its a version KA, but a MG X-1 nonetheless! thumbup.gif

S-Gundam (Ext) =  EX-S ??

Since I only collect MG now
and all the above I've already owned
except EX-S & Mk. II (AEUG)
since I've already got Mk. II Titans
so I'll look for EX-S more than Mk. II AEUG
*
Heh, my MG collection similars to your's then. And like you, if possible I'll also go with the EX-S as well.

IIRC, my first MG was the Zeta V1. I Got it a long time ago. After reading about the horror stories about its tranforming gimmick, I pretty much left it alone after finish building it.

Never tried putting a battery in it though, so I have never seen it's stabilizer lighted up, LOL!

Oh, that's my 2nd MG I've bought on 1999  biggrin.gif
then this year only assemble it  blush.gif

I didn't transform it at all
just let it remain the MS form
the joints already not so tight although I play with it less than 10 times

Can't blame it for having such lousy quality
it's 2nd generation of MG and it's the 5th MG product
*
I don't even dare touch it now! LOL! But it does looks pretty impressive actually (until Bandai went and released V2 shakehead.gif ) and it's easily one of the tallest Gundams!

QUOTE(jhcj @ Jul 27 2006, 10:48 AM)
Speaking about loose joints, the joint that connects the HiMAT wings on my Freedom to the backpack is very loose...so it's kinda hard to pose the wings cause they tend to fall down due to their weight.
*
Sorry mate, still haven't find time to fix my Freedom yet. So I wouldn't know about the wings... But my friend has finished his, he pretty much leaves his models alone as well after finishing them so he hasn't complained yet.

It's the tallest in my finished collection. The Super Gundam doesn't really count because of the G-Defender.

My Nu is still resting in the box as well. I think it won't fit in my cabinet if I equip the fin-flannels...

The joint there is very loose, so the wings will rotate downwards due to their weight. I'm so jealous when I see dalong's one standing upright so nicely. cry.gif
*
I see, it's also a problem with the EMSIA Freedom. It will also suffer from the same problem PLUS the wings are so heavy it can't really stand upright without support. So I bought a stand for it and pretty much left it alone.

Anyways don't be too jealous of Dalong's Freedom, the guy messes with his models alot before taking pic. My guess is, his is also having the same problem as your's now.

whoami123, my Zeta V1 also like that now! LOL! Everyonce awhile I carefully adjust it back.

so uncreative these bandai geeks.
*
Bandai marketing department is very clever. If they feel they can milk more money from you, they'll continue to release more colour variants.

I think this is to please the casual modeller. The type like me, not in the habit of painting and modding the models. So to lighten your burden (and your wallet), Bandai will happily make the colour variants and the necessary modding for you.

for a newbie like me how long should i spend for build a MG gundam? biggrin.gif

Actually this really depends. Unless you're a student, you only can fix it after work or on weekends.

Because I'm working I usually fix it after work. Takes around a week for me to finish my MG Nemo. Took around 3 weeks to finish my MG ZZ. But I do some basic panel lines and then slowly admire the parts that I have completed, LOL! (I'm thinking my Sazabi will take a month!)

So it depends on the MG you are planning to fix.

But my advice is, don't rush it through. The joy of a MG model is in it's construction. Rush through and you might do some stupid mistake like snapping the parts in the wrong order. Just take your own sweet time and you'll enjoy the finished results. icon_rolleyes.gif

Be sure to post your finished IJ, ya!

finally, a single pic of my recently assembled 1/100 Blue Frame Astray 2nd L. at the time the photo was taken, i havent done the rest of the parts. more pics soon!

comments. thx.

Blue Frame 2nd L. always looks good. rclxms.gif

The only thing I really don't like about the Seed 1/100 model kits are the hands. They offer no articulation whatsover.

To Dark Lynx,

I usually put in 2 to 3 hours after work to finish my models. GMs and Nemos have less parts to complete when compared to a Rz-G, I think. So take your time. smile.gif

To sorcecold,

Looking good there! thumbup.gif

LOL that's what I'd do.

sorcecold, pen it black all over, then use your finger or a piece of cloth to wipe off the surface paint. The ones in the seamlines will stay there.

I use the eraser technique.

Paint whole thing black with your marker
then use normal rubber eraser to rub off the paint on the surface
the panel lines black color will stay
*
Yup. This way your panel lines won't look too thick as well. Takes a bit more time, but I found this way to be very effective.

But you'll need to blow off the eraser shavings or like me, use various paint brushes (nothing fancy, any ordinary brush will do) to brush of the eraser shavings.
