It might work on narrow grooves, but there are also wider grooves which are too wide for hobby knife to evenly cut them huh.gif

I'm sure there is a special knife that for this particular job

btw, got this two types of coats, topcoat and Mr. super clear
I understand that topcoat is acrylic based and super clear is lacquer based
does this means if I paint my model with acrylic paint I use topcoat and super clear for lacquer paint?
Or it doesnt matter?

QUOTE(Balthasar @ Mar 13 2006, 04:37 PM)
Basically i just use Gunze sangyo's products, they happen to be the best.
It doesn't make any difference which clear coating u wanna use, just make sure it states either, flat, matt or gloss and check with the shop that it is clear paint.
This is because there is such a thing called surfacer, which is a  touch up paint and will be generally light grey in color. So if u spray that over ur bots, it will be like, wasted ur time painting it  doh.gif
*
FYI, Top Coat and Mr. Super Clear are both product of Gunze Sangyo's Mr.Hobby
and yes, I'm well aware of the existence of primer smile.gif
I don't think there are plastic modelers dumb enough to prime after paint tongue.gif

QUOTE(StormV @ Mar 13 2006, 06:56 PM)
But it will dillute water base paint and decal.
*
so water-based paints will mix with the decal, but does it apply to lacquer paints?
and do you mean the dry-transfer ones or water slide decals?

the site got a lot paints & hobby supplies
but to order you send email of the product ID together with shipping information
for payment, send the credit card number together in the mail
is this safe? sending credit card number through email? sweat.gif

QUOTE
They often use what they call washing

What most experienced plastic modeler do with the panel lines is 'enamel wash'. Given that you paint your model kits with either acrylic or lacquer, enamel won't dissolve with them.
Basically you are using enamel paint with 80:20 thinner to paint ratio and wash them throughout the grooves.
After that you clean up the excess paint with thinned cloth/tissue or cotton bud

Enamel thinner would do, but it is recommended that you use zippo lighter fluid as thinner.

QUOTE
Tamiya's can spray would be the ideal/only choice.

got Gunze Sangyo's Mr.Surfacer which I prefer more. Mr Surfacer 1000 should be good enough for gunpla

QUOTE
so first i gotta spray it on (with masking tape right?) and then paint it with acrylic or enamel? then where does the gundam markers come in?

No. You prime the entire surface that is visible (that you want to paint). Masking occurs when you want to spray/airbrush specific parts only. Gundam markers or panel line inking comes after you paint.

I was wandering whether the term 'modelling' is correct or not
my opinion, modelling refers to models who show off fashion stuff thing
it can also mean 3D modelling.

but for plastic models, we assemble, we mod, we paint, we pose
so which part is 'modelling'?

Superior wallpaper you must get!
lol I'm starting to think that infested's /b/tard overused word is influencing other ppl
it might be contagious tongue.gif

and I think 'superior' means 'better than'
not sure if you got any sort of comparison though
and if you're refering to the noun of 'superior', it means person of higher rank

u all got so many model kits eh,
not sure if actually got the time to build it

I'd say quality > quantity
better to make one or two model that is exceptionally awesome
than building hundreds of mediocre ones
or collecting and piling them boxes of model kits

my opinion gunpla w/o paint sucks regardless of the grades
and a lot of pros choose MG because the size is decent; not too small or too big
it will only be a matter of taste, which grade ppl will choose, not having to do with their skill in plastic models
