conversion = convert a model kit into a different one
the SF conversion set is a set of parts made of resin for SF to be fitted on the MG Freedom Gundam frame...so u'll need to buy both an MG Freedom & SF conversion parts by CORE-WOrKS...but just to let u know that only little of the MG Freedom parts is used so u'll have A LOT of wasted parts...unless ur planning to use the parts on modding other kits later  smile.gif

edit: btw StormV, im probably gonna get Bandai's version if they ever release one as well...gonna collect both as im very sure they'll have a lot of difference between the 2 kits  biggrin.gif

Uh, I dont get it. Why not just get a MG SF kit then?

Read the text. It says that you can use a stand as included in another BB Gundam model kit for display. It itself doesn't come with the stand.

yep..
you can also coat in gloss for panel lining/decaling and then finish off w/ matt top coat...

One more pointer is that...

DO NOT SPRAY THE CLEAR COATING TOO THICK OR IT MAY HAVE MINUTE CRAKE LINES AND CHIPS OFF EASILY.

You do not need a thick coating. 1-3 thin layers are good enough. U do not have to paint it to look like ur car kind of gloss ler...oh also make sure that its even and this can be best achieved if you u spray in a room, better effect...no bubbles and creases... if u are using a spray can tat is, if airbrush also the smake...if u use paintbrush...ur gundam will look like a shrivelled prune with lotsa wrinckles laugh.gif

btw, got this two types of coats, topcoat and Mr. super clear
I understand that topcoat is acrylic based and super clear is lacquer based
does this means if I paint my model with acrylic paint I use topcoat and super clear for lacquer paint?
Or it doesnt matter?

Basically i just use Gunze sangyo's products, they happen to be the best.
It doesn't make any difference which clear coating u wanna use, just make sure it states either, flat, matt or gloss and check with the shop that it is clear paint.
This is because there is such a thing called surfacer, which is a touch up paint and will be generally light grey in color. So if u spray that over ur bots, it will be like, wasted ur time painting it doh.gif

IIRC Mr. Color is Gunze sangyo. didn't gunze change their name or something a few years back? Can't really remember.

Vinc, there's a base coat which makes paint stick better to your models, and there's a top coat that protects the paint. (Obviously base coat goes on before painting and top coat after).

For top coat, you have a choice of matt, clear or gloss. Matt makes your model look 'dirty' and 'worn', and is very much the prefered choice. Clear is clear lar. And gloss makes your model shiny. OK if you're doing automoble modeling, but gloss makes your Gundam look like a toy.
