With that, Japan’s Daikin has come out with a new air-conditioner model, Urusara 7, which uses the R-32 refrigerant.
The refrigerant is said to have no impact on ozone layer depletion and is also more energy efficient than regular air-conditioners.
“Previously, manufacturers use R-12 and R-22 as refrigerants but these are harmful to the ozone layer. Currently the R-410A is used in many models. Although the ozone depletion potential has been reduced to zero, this still has a high global warming potential. With the R-32 refrigerant in the latest Daikin air-conditioners, we can reduce environmental impact,” says Sanky Sue, senior consultant, regional VRV Sales Division at Daikin.
Apart from using zero impact refrigerant, Urusara 7 has energy saving Econo Mode which limits maximum power consumption as well as lower electricity use during standby. The model also uses 3-Area Intelligent Eye which employs infrared sensors to detect human movement in a room. Where there is no movement detected, the feature adjusts the set temperature by 2 °C to achieve energy savings. It can also be set to automatically stop operation.
With Daikin’s Circulation Airflow technology, Urusara 7 is also able to cool a typical sized living room in just seven minutes, says Sue. He adds that with the dehumidifier feature, users are able to enjoy a cool environment in comfort and prevent overcooling which can lead to energy waste.
Urusara 7 is available in 1, 1.5 and 2HP variants.
