QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Nov 2 2012, 11:33 PM) My battery life today Hmm, looking at your CPUSpy report, it seems that there is some usage time not fully accounted for. But if you were playing games, it's quite telling that the CPU isn't at all taxed very much, since only around 20mins was spent at 1600MHz.I notice my battery life characteristic changed when 100% drop very fast but when it reaches 30% and below very slow to drop Samsung seems to have optimized Android very well for this beast machine. All activities are taking place at 1400MHz and below. However, I do notice that your daily usage graphs show a very distinct triangular shape meaning that the rate of discharge is fairly constant. On mine, with very very little use, the discharge rate seems to be about 25-30% within 8 hrs, then when I hit LYN ( Damn good. |

I go handphone shop left ppl playing samsung , beside me also samsung behind also front also =.=" All the more deserving for Samsung since they took it from the bottom up. They achieved all this via traditional methods, and did not need to rely on any so-called "iconic" personality that projected a reality distortion field whereby inferior features were swallowed as "magical" and "only we can do this". +++ for Samsung. Real innovation. This post has been edited by joytest: Nov 3 2012, 12:32 AM |

I want to ask if anyone has played with any NFC apps. Samsung's AppStore has a couple, and I loaded up something called NFC Taginfo.
It CAN READ OUR PASSPORT and a variety of other tap-to-beep cards like door entry, parking etc. I'm sure other apps have a WRITE function... |

For Cloudhuggers/lovers
US Government: You Don't Own Your Cloud Data So We Can Access It At Any Time ALL YOUR DATA ARE BELONG TO US ... Additionally, the government's argument that you lose all your property rights by storing your data on the cloud could apply to Amazon's S3 or Google Apps or Apple iCloud services as well Slashdot is a good read about many opinions http://yro.slashdot.org/story/12/11/02/173...-it-at-any-time Extract from EFF article: (Electronic Frontier Foundation, watchdog for rights in computing) https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2012/10/gover...cloud-computing ...... But in addition, the government's approach should terrify any user of cloud computer services—not to mention the providers. The government maintains that Mr. Goodwin lost his property rights in his data by storing it on a cloud computing service. Specifically, the government argues that both the contract between Megaupload and Mr. Goodwin (a standard cloud computing contract) and the contract between Megaupload and the server host, Carpathia (also a standard agreement), "likely limit any property interest he may have" in his data. (Page 4). If the government is right, no provider can both protect itself against sudden losses (like those due to a hurricane) and also promise its customers that their property rights will be maintained when they use the service. Nor can they promise that their property might not suddenly disappear, with no reasonable way to get it back if the government comes in with a warrant. Apparently your property rights "become severely limited" if you allow someone else to host your data under standard cloud computing arrangements. This argument isn't limited in any way to Megaupload -- it would apply if the third party host was Amazon's S3 or Google Apps or or Apple iCloud. The government's tactics here also demonstrate another chilling thing—if users do try to get their property back, the government won't hesitate to comb through their property to try to find an argument to use against them. ......... Convenient? Yes.... Who controls? ....?? This post has been edited by joytest: Nov 3 2012, 11:52 AM |

QUOTE(XOXOGenN @ Nov 3 2012, 09:01 PM) Long winded answer:http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/jailbroken-io...oid-story-idea/ Rooting: This is something you do with an Android device, and does not require a special ROM. When you root a device, you are effectively telling Android to treat you like a grown-up. Suddenly, apps you install on your phone can do crazy things like backup and freeze system software, keep your phone from ringing when someone annoying calls, and more. Jailbreaking: This is the iOS parallel for rooting, more or less. Meaning, you don’t install a separate version of iOS itself, but you use the same iOS you’ve used before, just with special permissions and the options to install more software and plugins via Cydia. ...... The only key difference is that Apple is actively trying to fight jailbreaking, while Google doesn’t fight rooting at all. US Law makes jailbreaking of phones LEGAL. Last week's ruling. |

QUOTE(Ubitap @ Nov 3 2012, 10:51 PM) what you want to do is known as card/tag emulation mode. In the normal read/write mode, when you put a tag to the phone, the phone is acting as a reader. in tag emulation mode, your phone act as a tag for other readers. Thanks. I'm aware of the security in contactless payment cards. However, tag emulation will be good for all the other cards.Android does not allow tag emulation mode. You have to hack the ROM to do this. There are some successful cases reported with custom ROM doing tag emulation. I have tried nfc classic app with stock ROM, but so far no successful case for me. I'm not sure whether the app really works. Of course payment related cards like touchngo or mastercard paypass has their own security layer. So it wont be easy to clone them unless you know the security key. Maybe you could try a custom rom and flog its benefits, since you provide such products and services. |
