QUOTE(antt00 @ Nov 8 2012, 11:48 PM) What is dummy hw control. Kernel is not firmware. Kernel can change charging rate. donno, never dig into the n2 hw schematic... the charging port normally just fully hw control and i dont think the manufacturer soo generous to give you sw controlable charging hw as it all about $$$ cost saving... Added on November 8, 2012, 11:53 pmanyone have the n2 Level3 service manual? This post has been edited by sklchan: Nov 8 2012, 11:53 PM

QUOTE(antt00 @ Nov 8 2012, 11:56 PM) True it depends on how much the pc usb port can give but samsung phone charging rate can be changed. Its been done in the S2. It is not software change per say, as it changes code in the kernel that controls the hardware of the phone. No normal user can change or any app can change. Need hardcore coding. batt charging circuitry are only controled by those universal batt charging controller, what the reason to allow the sw to control the charging rate while u can just pop a chip and let it do the job?? hahaha...

the only reason for sw controlable would be enable/disable charging like an on/off switch (useful for sw control power up, reboot sequences)... but charging rate i don't think so... Added on November 9, 2012, 12:04 amQUOTE(joytest @ Nov 8 2012, 11:59 PM) Grammatically, "why, i need this feature !!" means, "really, i want to have this." "why i need this feature" means in Manglish, "why do i want this?" So what do you mean by your statement? Your syntax not parsable..... Added on November 9, 2012, 12:01 amCoz it's a hackable chip??? Like the Macbook Air's battery controller chip got hacked...... those so call batt controller are un-accesible through internal sw wiring, if u wanna mod it u need to manual access to it physically... also if u play with those the batt anytime can get blown up due to u might screw up the safety limit on those Li-on batt itself... big no no This post has been edited by sklchan: Nov 9 2012, 12:04 AM

QUOTE(antt00 @ Nov 9 2012, 12:04 AM) Its been done and proven with amp meter before. But the charger charging is mainly fixed. What is usually changed is charging through USB and other sources which is set way lower than what the battery can take to protect the pc usb port. Hence it still can be increased. from these statement it mean the main controller are selecting which mode of charging (either USB lower current charging or Power plug charging), as u said the kernel mod is bypassing this selection and from there i can foresee you are risking to damage your usb device as the phone will draw full current from the port although the default is to protecting it... big no no man... QUOTE(joytest @ Nov 9 2012, 12:05 AM) If it's a discrete controller, probably that's the case. In the case of Exynos, it's a high density SOC, and since the CPU and almost all controllers are on-die, then I suppose it's simply a case of pushing some numbers (discrete charge rate steps) to some register. IMHO. do u really think they let the big daddy to let those huge charging current flow through the pricey SOC?? the Exynos will only do those low current logic control signal to drive the power driver... and as mention by antt00 they only included simple selection of usb/powerplug charging and not those high accuracy charging rate controlling...

QUOTE(antt00 @ Nov 9 2012, 12:30 AM) The selection is still usb. Just the charging rate for usb had been increased. Yes there is a risk of frying the pc usb port. But hey I did not make the kernel. Just informing the other guy why his charging is slower now he changed kernel. Its always a risk trying custom kernel. hehehe... better u warn them on the risk if not later someone "might" burn their iMac PRO... LOL

QUOTE(waveweaver @ Nov 9 2012, 01:35 AM) Absolutely correct. No need any tweaking for battery yup, is everythings meet your requirement there's no need for mods... as when modding you donno whatelse actually you've been wrongly tweak and "might" cause any un-forseen defects... but something do bother me would be those wakelock issues and not sure the n2 will be having it or not as for n1 i do face it before due to modding and force to reset the device...

QUOTE(FaezFarhan @ Nov 9 2012, 01:47 AM) The battery is much better than Note 1 I suppose? Great! The one on my Note 1 doesn't last at all nowadays. So what tweaks do you usually do? n1 are very prone to wakelock, mean the device sit idling but the power consumtion keep depleting without any clear reason...

QUOTE(FaezFarhan @ Nov 9 2012, 02:27 AM) When I was using iPhone, I learned all those things like jailbreak and etc especially for the custom themes. But when I switched to the Note, I didn't learn how to root. I feel like learning when I get my Note 2 coz everyone seems to be doing it. in droid world the rabbit hole are far far far far far more & more & more & more deep deep deeper compare to others OS... hahaha time to learn bro, i'm also plan to keep the n2 for longer period to explore the droid world...

"sometimes" i do feel too lazy to customise everythings for the droid system, for me i will just use and when hit dead end then only will look for solution or modding... same goes to the pc world, you ain't gonna mod every single pc os around "all the time"...
