It depends how the trader's trade, some trader trade by scalping some are in long-term.
for me if the trend are going up, i will prefer going on long-term basis. if the market movement up and down, i will trade by scalping.
people wont see on profit or lost, more people see on pips depending on how strong your account.

for example
formula
equity x 0.02 (2% risk per trade) / 50 pips x 10 USD (EUR/USD)

let say i got $5,000 USD in my account

5000 x 0.02 per trade / 50 x 10 = 20 which is 0.20 lot size (2 per pips)

if  you collect 200 pips per week

200 pips x $2 per pip = earn $ 400 USD per week
4 weeks x 400 USD = earn $1,600 per month

trade it constantly will be better to reduce your risk to minimum
