I have mentioned numerous times previously that triangle away can restore your status to original from modified in a rooted s3 with stock rom.  I've used chainfire's cf auto root to root my s3 and then triangle away to reset ROM counter AND restore status to original.

Next day, I had an OTA update notification and easily upgraded to jelly bean with no issues.

After update, I used OTA rootkeeper to restore root. As simple as that, no need to do CF root again.
*
In my experience, triangle away (2.1 and 2.2) only managed to change the modified status to normal on ICS. Once on JB, triangle away only resets the flash counter.

After I used triangle away, i protected the root with OTA rootkeeper . After the official jb update, I restored root with ota rootkeeper.

I just checked the status just now, it's Samsung official, no 'modified' status detected

I used triangle away v2.24 I think, just before the latest 2.25 update
*
Thanks for the info. I downloaded Triangle Away 2.26 but still the same. I think it is my issue then as I have used a MOD to enable init.d on the stock kernel. As well as replaced the tar for CWM.

No big deal for me as can use KIES or ODIN for updates. And will do full reset/restore to stock if any warranty claim required.

can we still use software update after root with v6.4?
*
Not if the device status is modified. Manually update using Kies or ODIN by flashing the new update.

anyone has working solution for Unfortunately, messaging service has stopped??????
*
Interesting problem, after some googling, found that it could be caused by unknown CSC.
Check if CSC is unknown from dialer
CODE

*#1234#

If CSC unknown, please read on the XDA thread in the spoiler

Any one has more than 200 apps on 4.1.1 and you will see forced close while tying to go into Application Manager?
*
300+ apps and forced closed only right after update I believe. Just clear RAM and try again. If still force close, restart phone and you're good to go.

I just upgrade from ICS to JB(Unrooted) but i found out that JB is really battery consuming...is there any way to settle it?

or can we still downgrad to ICS? thanks
*
I also had issues with battery life after update to JB but it is now good (back to normal)

Suggest no need to downgrade to ICS yet. For me
1. Disable Google Now (for now)
2. Do only 1 full discharge (to 0 batt and then full charge)
3. After that use as per normal and charge once hits 20% (You can also charge it once hits below 40% if you like)
=> After few days, you will enjoy good battery (in my experience)

Factory reset may help too, but since I did not have issues, I did not do it.
No need reset battery stats (with CWM) as already Google Engineer explained not needed normally

Google Now for Malaysia JB is really battery draining and suggest you only enable it if you like it/need it until maybe next JB update for MY?

Sorry no more ideas on why you have issues...

Ok my fren S3 has a problem here.

After updated to JB, his facebook photos all auto sync to his gallery.

Any ideas how to hide or remove this? Before update, his facebook photos never shown in his gallery.
*
Try this solution, should work for facebook too.

Any1 success using kies to backup everything? I always backup halfway get error...
*
Kies is pretty USELESS for backing up applications (unless you have very few). Uncheck the applications and backup other stuff like address book etc is ok.
If you include applications, it will take forever and not complete.... It only succeeded for me when the applications were 250MB or less.

Recommend you use Titanium Backup Pro.

If i remember correctly, titanium need rooted device rite? Is that means non rooted got no real software to backup apps?
*
AFAIK using Titanium Backup without root, you can still backup apps but not apps+apps data
FYI - With Kies, backing up applications does not mean your apps data gets backup anyway, only the apps.

I think mayb u didn't save it properly?
BTW, anyone using "Home manager"? Let say I wanna switch off stock touchWiz Home, I just "kill" it or "uninstall" it?
and once I open home manager, the home manager icons appeared at nortification bar there. how to remove it? as it very annoying. haha!
*
This is a simple issue, just SELECT (CHECK) show notification in Home Manager. Exit. And then UNSELECT (UNCHECK) show notification again. It will then not appear in notifications anymore. Just a bug in the app.

Don't try uninstalling TouchWiz. If you're really want to, you can freeze it using Titanium Backup. You need to use Titanium Backup's power defrost to unfreeze if later (e.g. if you want successful OTA updates)

hi...

before JB, i rooted my phone and when JB arrived i mistakenly updated my phone using OTA update. now i noticed my phone is not rooted anymore.

so how do i root back my phone now with JB stock rom?
hope i can get some help here.

thank you.
*
OTA and flashing new stock JB ROM via ODIN (PC) will cause you to lose root. Just re-root the same way you did before. IMHO, CF-Root is preferred even if the CWM is not supported any more by the dev.

Oh! but I can't, possible to do this via adb? did adb detectable when in download mode? Now my phone only in download mode can be detected by Odin. I cannot access the recovery mode.
*
Interesting issue, you can try flashing the PIT and the ROM as well?
Found this on XDA

The PIT files are in a few pages back
