Was prompted by the phone to upgrade to JB 4.1.1.

After upgrading this afternoon OTA which actually did not take long, niggling problems start to arise.

1. Hung a couple of times.
2. Does not sleep even though set to do so. Have to restart phone.
3. Lags when opening phone and message functions.

Though can feel it is faster in certain aspects, from my experience thus far and some forummers here, 4.1.1 is still unstable.

In view of the problems mentioned I did do a factory reset and reinstalled my apps. Despite that those problems are still hanging around.

I also forgot to mention the faster battery drain.

After factory resetting for the second time, my phone is still not 'sleeping' according to the set timing.

Confirmed it's the Smart Stay that's giving problem as the eye will appear but screen dims and comes on again. However, it goes to 'sleep' after the eye appears a few time. When Smart Stay is off, no problem.

Anyone out like has this problem? Could someone offer some help? Can I somehow do the firmware update again with a hope of doing away with this problem? Any advice is appreciated. Btw, I am on stock without any flash/root.

Not swype per se but continuous typing which is similar but naturally not as effective.

That's the main problem also with my phone now which I posted a few pages back.

This is what I did but depending on the mood of the phone, the problem may come back. I have done this a few times whenever it comes back.

1. Un-check the Smart Stay. Use the phone for a while.
2. Then check Smart Stay, immediately re-start phone. The phone will then sleep at set time.

If it doesn't work the first time around, try again. It will. But like I said, the problem may come back.

I have asked here whether I can do the firmware up-grade again to see if I can get rid of this problem. But so far, no sifus have answered. If you have found a permanent solution, do let me know.

Thinking of taking my phone to the SC for a diagnosis. But since the issue is not major, will probably hold on for a short while.

I up-graded to JB OTA and factory re-setted twice. My phone is stock - lock, stock and barrel. As I am not tech savvy, did not root and of course did not flash my phone at all.

How do I reflash my stock firmware please? TQ.

Thus far, the problem returns after a few hours. The longest I had my peace of mind was half a day. I have always been on 30 seconds. Tried my way and changed time to 1 minute once but to no avail.

What he meant is go to:

Settings>Lock Screen>Lock Automatically>Choose 'Immediately'.

Understand?

Can you just follow the sequence stated? Forget about your Swipe Unlock!!!

When you do that, you can then select 'Immediately'!

Tried another method which seemed to be working, at least so far.

Though Smart Stay is on and set for 30 secs., I manually make the phone sleep a few times. After that, my phone has been obedient and going to sleep by itself at set time.

Try Zedge.

The answer is the latter.

Look up GS here. A few are selling. In fact, under different brands.

Can I revert to ICS if my phone is stock, not rooted and flashed? Or is there any way I can do an up-grade again with my stock phone since I have some issues, minor but irritating?

With this JB up-grade different people are facing different problems with some not having any. I have been religiously following this thread and am personally facing some niggling problems.

I have also googled and some of the problems are faced by others in other parts of the world as well.

Do a factory reset. It may work.

Have you tried factory resetting your phone?

From what I have been reading here and in other forums plus my personal experience I would suggest you hold on for a while. But then again, it is entirely your choice.

I believe you are like some of us here, having problems with Smart Stay after updating to JB.

With the Smart Stay on, some of us are having the problem of the screen not sleeping at the set time even though we are no longer looking at it. One of the features in JB is improved Smart Stay function but unfortunately there is a bug which causes this issue.

I have tried various ways to rectify it but after a while, it surfaces again. So, I just turn off Smart Stay.

My S3 is also un-rooted and the same problem arose a couple of times. Re-started the phone when it came up and now after 2 days, no sign of this issue anymore.
