Alliance Research in its report yesterday initiated coverage on AirAsia X, with a target price of RM1.33 at an indicative IPO price of RM1.45.

"While we see long-term potential for AirAsia X, we believe near-term share price performance may be affected by seasonally weak second- and third-quarter results as well as concerns over the impact of the delay in the opening of KLIA2 on its expansion plan.

"For now, we prefer AirAsia for exposure to the aviation sector given its cheaper valuation vis-à-vis AirAsia X and lower implementation risks," the research firm added.
