I will shift to dd-wrt soon hehe . Any1 try flash buffalo WHR-G54S b4? this router is cheapest than WRT54G , and WRT54G juz got new version only , hard to get the version which can flash . The dd-wrt.com say , best performance router to flash with dd-wrt is buffalo WHR-G54s o , mb i will buy 1 to try , juz RM170 only , wireless speed 125

BTW i introduce newbie to try Zyxel P-660HW-T1 all in 1 wireless adsl+2 modem router , RM180 at viewnet lowyat .
. Zyxel is a nice try before goin to dd-wrt because it is a powerful router with super function like bandwith management that u can set priority and usage that for every software like p2p . I can play dota and browse with open bitcomet download 99kb/s , download a single file only ..

WHR G54s can use all the xxxx.generic.bin file , example
dd-wrt.v24_generic_nokaid.bin
dd-wrt.v24_mini_generic.bin
dd-wrt.v24_std_generic.bin
dd-wrt.v24_voip_generic.bin
dd-wrt.v24_vpn_generic.bin

link
http://dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads.php , click release candidates(RC is the latest) or stable , click RC5 ->GENERIC BROADCOM (Linksys, Asus etc.) and search for filename above

There are several different distributions of the DD-WRT firmware. The mini contains all the features of the standard distribution, with the exception of chillispot, nocat, rflow, kaid, CIFS client, SNMP, IPv6, and MMC/SD card support. The standard (std) distribution includes all features, with the exception of VOIP. The standard-nokaid (std-nokaid) distribution includes all features of standard, with kaid removed to free some flash space. The VOIP distribution includes all features, with kaid removed to make room for SiPath. The VPN edition includes OpenVPN but does not include IPv6, CIFS client, or kaid.

*suggest u use mini or std

if any1 encounter drop packets from wireless even signal still on , try to update ur wireless driver( problem of intel wireless PROSet) , if u dun1 update then u right click intel wireless PROSet click 'use windows manage wifi ' after that u will notice it wont hv problem as when u using PROSet. If u nop using intel wireless NIC and face this problem , try to set 'use windows manage wifi '

*Last time when i 1st time flash to dd-wrt firmware , i aslo face such drop packets from wireless , then i try swap to tomato firmware , and the problem still on . Then i realise it was nop problem of firmware , i try set 'use windows manage wifi ' without using intel PROSet then the problem solve and i know it is the PROSet problem , and i update the PROSet to the latest version , now can connect with PROSet without any problem since half year ago

Doggystyle: Do u use wireless? if yes and i got 300bucks then i will buy whr-g54s around rm150 and another rm150 buy a stronger antenna(whr-g54s antenna is changeable) , the signal of ori antenna come with it is strong too , anyway u can increase th signal Xmit in dd-wrt after u flash it aslo , so for home user , no need buy extra powerful antenna. Many ppl compare buffalo with linksys , some ppl say linksys is poor than buffalo and some say linksys is better. So depend u lo. But i tell u , my whr g54s nv disappoint me

Doggystyle:
the cpu is 200mhz 16mb flash 4mb memory , mean it can flash into any generic file of dd-wrt , the dd-wrt version with support by this router can found in pages 107 which i explained in early. After u flash to dd-wrt u can increase the cpu speed aslo to 210mhz or so on . My router at hall and my laptop connect wirelessly from my room at up floor with no problem , full str . So i think no need to change antenna for ur case aslo.
I aslo use it to dl torrent with thunder ( with cant block with streamyx ) and hit 180kb/s without the router goin to hang and cannot browse

if wana get cheap router which can support dd-wrt , try dlink dir-300.
Bought it at pc fair at RM117.
Manage to flash it to RC5

http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/down.php?pa...5/D-Link+DIR300

But the flash method is harder compare to flash a buffalo or linksys router
