Just curious... I am using WRT54GC v2 (the one with antenna). Will I be able to use this firmware as well?

I know this isnt a technical help thread but then I recently changed from WRT54GC to WRT54GL.

I am not sure what version is this but just got it last week. Can I use DD-WRT firmware too? What are the advantage since 3rd party firmware causes void of warranty right?

I always get this error message saying:

"You are connected to the access point, but the Internet could not be found."

10 seconds later,

"You have successfully connected to the access point and the Internet"

10 seconds later,

"You are connected to the access point, but the Internet could not be found."

10 seconds later,

"You have successfully connected to the access point and the Internet"

Is there something wrong with my unit or will it be resolved once I flash it with 3rd party firmware? What are the features that will be 'unlocked'?

Ok, I go to http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads.php,
Click on dd-wrt.v23 SP2 <DIR> 14 items

Then I get 6 <DIR>
- micro
- mini
- standard
- standard_nokaid
- voip
- vpn

Which Directory one should I go for since I am using Linksys WRT54GL? Or should I just download one of the ZIP files there? Kindly guide please, thank you.

Thank you very much, sifus... Whats the diff between the mini and the standard versions?

I really hope this firmware can resolve my frequent Internet not detected problem.

Ok, I managed to flash my router to generic_mini.bin now but then I still have my constant Streamyx disconnection problem. What the hell man, it didnt happened with my WRT54GC! Does this mean that my unit is faulty?

Ok, it's at
Keep Alive: Redial Period [20] Sec.
Client Lease Time [1440] Minutes

Ok, here is another question, I am using BitComet to download torrent files, on my Status tab, Router sub-tab, I see this;

Active IP Connections 481 at 93% on the bar

Is this normal? Can I open more connections to speed up my download?

ANOTHER Q:
At the same time, when I look at my Wireless Network Connection Status, I come to realized that my Packets Sent is more than my Packets Received, that's normal because I'm sharing my torrent very regularly, uploading more than downloading BUT my question is why is my Packets Received moving SO TOO SLOWLY, like everytime the number changes, its only a difference of ~50. Last 3 digits has been going, 730 ---> 771 --> 823, like that.

Ok, this is getting a tiny bit technical...

I called up Linksys M'sia hotline and they are kind enough to guide me through some changes but they didnt explain what were they...

http://www1.linksys.com/support/troublesho...d_settings.html

I was told to change:
RTS Threshold = 2304
Fragmentation Threshold = 2304
Beacon Interval = 50

What are these and what do they do? Lastly, when I look at my WUSB54GS Linksys software, I get a reading of

Noise Level -90 to -93 dbm
Signal Strength -38 to -44 dbm

Are these regular values you guys are also getting? Or I should move my router elsewhere, etc? Kindly clarify. Thanks.

I flashed to DD-WRT but I didnt tell Linksys Hotline that. Anyway, I changed the value as stated above and read about Noise Level and Signal Strength, apparently its quite good.

Yet, I am still suffering from the same issue. My torrent are connecting so slowly (yes, I know TMNET throttled torrents blah but it was faster last week before I changed my GC to GL).

The disconnecting problem IS possibly my router settings cause my router has no PC connected to it via wired. All wireless. Even placed next to my PC is wireless cause my mobo LAN part spoil liao - lightning burnt.

Everyone,

I am still encountering the error message where by Linksys Wireless Network Monitor says "You are connected to the access point but the Internet cannot be found."

Can you guys tell me which Wireless Network Adapter you are using? I am currently using WUSB54GS with SpeedBooster. Could this be a problem, incompatibility between the router and adapter as adapter has SpeedBooster feature?

It will be very helpful if you could list down what brand and model of adapter you guys and girls use along with your WRT54GL. THank you.

Dear regular and regularites,

May I know what is your setup like? WRT54GL + what brand/model WIFI adapter?

My setup is WRT54GL and WUSB54GS (SpeedBooster).

Anyone else using this setup? Could the SpeedBooster be part of why I encounter my problem "You are connected to the Access Point, but the Internet could not be found."

However, yesterday gila gila, my BitComet was downloading at 100kB/s and the Heath reading 5000+.

I'm downloading only 6 torrents but only 3 is moving and I have 3700++ active connection when the max is set to 4096.

How do I reduce the active connections to a lower number? Please advise.

One question for you guys with WRT54GL, DD-WRT v23 SP2 mini and BitComet.

Do you guys turn on:
1. Windows Firewall (disabled)
2. UPnP (disabled)
3. SPI Firewall (I have this disabled)

I am just wondering if these will affect my torrent download speeds.

Port forwarding, only available from 1 to 65535 right?

It is reported that ISP always block port from 1 - 50000? So, anything above 50000 is good. However we cannot go beyond 65535. What happens if we apply port 80000 on BitComet and our WRT54GL? Will the router accept it?

Ok, I am running on Vista and DD-WRT.

Now, everytime I turn on my torrent, my network goes pretty slow for web-browsing.

Go to my Router setup page --> Status tab --> Router tab --> Network column
IP Filter Maximum Ports 4096
Active IP Connection 3800+++

Last time, it only gets to 2000+... now it has increased. Is this why my web-browsing has become slow?

I am downloading 10 torrents at once.

What Wireless Security encryption do you guys use? I use WEP for a long time now and I start to think thats no good, so what should I use for my home network? WPA or WPA2? WPA2 also got Radius, shared key and etc type.

Please advise.

Also what channel do you guys use? My wireless channel is 6. Should I change?
