for the IP Filter Settings,

Both of the TCP Timeout & UDP Timeout, what does it mean if I increase or decrease its value?

Exactly what it means. If you increase the TCP timeout value, your TCP connection would take x seconds of no connectivity for it to remove it from the list. For information on what TCP and UDP is, check out google, wiki, etc please. Pretty rare to find people who doesn't know what timeout means.

Ever heard of the 5 days bug? It took 5 days to timeout on TCP and UDP on the original firmware, which then lags the hell out of the router and you would need to power cycle to bring it back to normal.

Anyway, try reading the help file will ya? dd-wrt has a good documentation on the firmware itself. It is on the right side of every page on the router website.

when doing QoS, is it important to set the downlink and uplink speed to be about 80% of actual speed?

if ur 54g is v5 (the worst firmware for that series), then i think u should flash it. mine is v5, it sucks when using original firmware. after flash, very smooth and able to torrent more.

Anyone familiar with hardware?
I have a WRT54G v3.1 that is corrupted.
I built t Jtag cable and was able to detect and flash.
Problem is that the data flashed is always duplicated into adjacent blocks.
The block of data is always 64KB in size.
This error is repeatable.
The backups are always identicaly corrupted.
Actually the corrupted data is because new data is being copied over the earlier blocks of flashed data.
Can any technically minded reader help me?

for those who havent noticed, there is a cheaper yet better router that can support dd-wrt besides linksys wrt54gl. buffalo whr-g54s just rm160, and works better than the linksys.

It has cuter design too!

nah, my friend just bought it at pczone 2 days back for just rm145 instead of rm160. rclxms.gif
their pricelist shows rm170 however.

Once disconnect, router will alway connect back...that is the 1 of the function we use router..smile.gif and after connect, U will get new IP as well.
I do encounter frequent disconnection last time with my WRT54GL with DDWRT. The main problem is my telephone line got noise. After call and tmnet send some1 to fix it. No more problem.
Here some items U can check:
1) Check yr phone line condition: got noise or not?
2) Do a reset ( pressing reset button for longer time) then reset all the setting.
3) Reflash to other firmware.
4) call up TMnut, maybe it yr exchange got problem.

Hope the above help..

try other version as well. but mostly it is due the tm side problem, maybe the line or the exchange as stated by mikelanding
