I use the micro_generic version, so far so good. The only problem i have now is that the power led keep blinking, but i can still go online and can even access the router GUI.  So what is the blinking indicates?

I know it works on first upgrade from the original linksys firmware.

My question is after I need to update to the latest firmware. Still use the micro_generic ? People been giving me all kinds of answer , which I can't determind which is true rclxub.gif

It was meant for users to mod it with 3rd party firmware actually. Well, from my experience, I did send my WRT54G for RMA before and it was flashed with DD-WRT but they still accepted it.
*
I second that , I screwed my router when I update my firmware to latest DD-WRT . It came back from warranty after 5 days tongue.gif

well, i think i should flash my wrt54gl with DD-WRT if it's confirm safe

anyone mind to teach me about the flashing? since this thread is too long and i don't have time to finish them all..

safety first tongue.gif don't want to spoil the router and wait for warranty

Before flashing, 1st restore to factory default

Flash with this
http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/down.php?pa...ini_generic.bin

after that remember to do the 30 sec reset (hold the reset button & power on, hold the reset button for 30sec)

the new user id:-
Id: root
password: admin

You are good to go..flash the firmware to any of the "wrt54g" flavor u like such as std, min, vpn..etc
http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads.php

Std:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/down.php?pa....v23_wrt54g.bin

mini:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/down.php?pa...mini_wrt54g.bin

I bought a WRT54GS over the weekend and found it was version 6. I downloaded dd-wrt mini but it wouldn't flash. Can the version 6 be installed with some custom firmware like openwrt or dd-wrt?

i read in dd-wrt forum, they recommended xmit power for GL version changed to 151mW.
i use 151mW for about one month now, but the condition might be different because i hv changed the whole thing as DIY (the picture might tells everything)

p/s : this fellow can do up to 1.2km tongue.gif

if this thing can travel so far , how about the ping ? any packet loss ?
