Hi! I am new here and I am interested. Is runners those people in marathon? Running long distance as an exercise and keeping fit?
*
As long as you run, or jog (which there're no difference in terms of physiology), then you're a runner, regardless of distances, or whether you join races, whatever your purpose is =)

Here's an interesting article on "How to Know if You’re a Jogger or a Runner". Of course, it's nothing reliable, opinion from an author/runner which somehow to an extent define the term "runner/jogger".

QUOTE(ViRaViRa @ Oct 25 2012, 11:32 AM)
Is there any other option to carry a big phone while running? I don't find it comfortable to use a armband due to the size of the phone which :
1) attract too many unwanted attention
2) heavy and bothering
3) will slip from arm after some time due to the weight.

Was considering a pouch, but find it to be too big and the phone will be bouncing inside the pouch while running.

Is there a specific pouch to fit e.g. 5" phone like Galaxy Note?
*
Wouldn't a pouch attracts more attention with robbers/thief thinking that a pouch would have higher possibility of it containing money, cards, phone, etc.?

I don't prefer to carry multiple phones around. And yes, it is important for me to carry it, in case of emergency smile.gif
They why are people selling armband for Galaxy note ?  sweat.gif
Cool story bro  thumbup.gif

Probably yes, but still it is much safer than carrying the phone using a armband. People can easily see that you are carrying a phone when it is in your armband but people will assume and make guesses when it is not visible.

And psychologically, thieves will generally assume that you don't carry anything very valuable when jogging unless :
1) the pouch is just too big and looks heavy.
2) you are unlucky
*
Can try this

http://www.ccube-sports-hub.blogspot.com/2...ow-running.html

Ask Choi whether it fits your Note.

what is run clinic ? i never attend before. is it fun to join ?
*
where there's a doctor to diagnose you with running-related injuries

nah just kidding tongue.gif

Running clinic is an event where runners gather, and tips/advice are shared by experienced runners/pros, normally with a run-together

i use Garmin's Forerunner 910XT. Not bad, can tahan at least up to 5:49. My worst FM in PNM. haha !
*
QUOTE(irmanariff @ Oct 30 2012, 03:54 PM)
Yeah, thanks for the advice!

Don't think I can do a full marathon under 5 hours too!

I considered the Forerunner 610 but am not feeling very comfortable with the bad reviews on its corroding caseback, lose strap pin and the IPX7 (dumb imho) water resistance rating.

I think I'll be sticking with half marathons for now.

Added on October 30, 2012, 3:56 pm

Hey!

I considered the 910XT but considering I don't cycle and swim, it's too expensive and overkill for my use.

How do you find the watch? Isn't a bit on the bulkier side?

Do you find the lack of power save mode (hence need to consistently charge the battery) an annoyance?
*
910XT's battery can survive up till 20 hours. Means every bar, will last for 4-5 hours. As far as I've used it, it lives up to the specs advertised. Battery last that long as it's designed for Ironman/Tri purpose. For me, the design was nice enough, I'm obsessive with details, so the design is just nice for me. Weight wise, yea little heavy, but easily ignored.

Hey guys got some question I wanna ask. My running routine is always 5-6km for 3 days in a week, last 2 weeks ago I changed my running routine into extreme hiking cause my friend said hiking will help me to increase my stamina. After 2 weeks of hiking, I change back to running and I realized that I can't even run for 3km, my leg muscle sore easily and I got tired easily. Is it because of the hiking?Hmm marathon is coming, hopefully can get back to the previous condition.
*
I'd say your muscles are tired. Not sure how "Extreme" it is. But hiking and running do use some different muscle groups. Give it some rest, probably 1-1 1/2 weeks with recovery runs only, and lots of self massage. You'll definitely be back stronger =)

Thanks.

Any specific stores which have the stocks?

I travelling often to Bangi, Shah Alam and 1 Utama. My best guess is 1 Utama.

For brooks, go to The Curve @ Kota Damansara, Brooks shop is at top floor, beside Daiso. The uncle there is very helpful and experienced in helping you to choose the shoe that best fits you.

QUOTE(leanman @ Nov 2 2012, 09:36 AM)
if you have signed up for NEwton RUn on 30/12/12, you can buy at discounted price now.
I just bought a pair at RM259 and they are real wide.

Are all Newton shoes wide?

Do enjoy the sprint distance while you can. Once you participate in the individual long distance, you'll never be allowed to participant in Sprint anymore =D

PBIM will be my Virgin FM too. It is not realistic to aim 4.30 for my first FM?
*
anything is realistic if you put in the right amount of training into it =)

if you expect a 4:30 when you train according to a 5:00 or 5:30 or just to finish training schedule, then it's not realistic flex.gif On other hand, it's also mind over matter ;-)
