Guys, have a look here:

http://www.vivaregion.com.my/

and tell me, does that mean PES5 will be one of the official games for ESWC 2006 Malaysian qualifiers??? I really hope so, coz ESWC 2005 Malaysia sucked due to the fact that they didn't include PES4 as one of the official games. I think they did that based on ESWC 2004's PES3 popularity, where not many people joined for the PES3 game category.

But unfortunately, based on ESWC 2006 official rules & regulations stated here: http://www.esworldcup.com/2006/?act=docume...&id_document=49 it says that PES5 will be using the PC version! I'm sure that will be a downer for everyone, coz here in Malaysia, most people are playing the PS2 version.

But fret not guys, just go out & buy a PS2 to PC gamepad converter, which can easily be found at Lowyat Plaza, KL. Then you'll be able to play PES5 or Winning Eleven 9 on PC using your PS2 gamepads. It really feels just like playing on PS2, the only difference being the much better graphics you'll get when you play on PC.

Let's all email the organisers, info@vivaregion.com.my, and let them hear the voice of PES/WE fans across Malaysia wanting PES5 to be part of ESWC 2006 Malaysia!

hell no!!!!
not the PC version!

i tell you man, the PC version sucks more than FIFA 06 on the PC
the movement really has been slowed down on PC, sluggish movements from the players, barely can move around..
god, I hope its for the PS2... :S

Sheep, I think the slow movements that you got when playing PES5 PC version is because of your hardware configuration not up-to-spec la. To me, even when I applied the LOD mixer patch to my PES5 PC installation where the graphics all become really detailed, I still feel that the PC version moves faster compared to the PS2 version.

What graphics card, processor & RAM do u use? I use ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, AMD Athlon 2800+, & 2x512 MB RAM.

And yes, I got confirmation via e-mail from the organisers of ESWC Malaysia 2006, Viva Region, that PES5 will definitely be 1 of the official games of ESWC Malaysia! Yey!

And unfortunately, we will have to play using the PC version, based on the rules & regulations posted on ESWC's international website at http://www.esworldcup.com/2006/?act=docume...&id_document=49

But I have suggested to the organisers, via e-mail, that they prepare the PS2 to PC gamepad converters ahead of time. This is to allow people who don't know how & where to get the converters to be able to still participate. In my case, I don't have a problem joining, coz I already have a converter (2 actually!), but what about those who don't know a thing about computers?

The organisers agreed to contact me for further assistance regarding that matter. I hope they do, coz I want to try to ensure that PES5 will always remain as an official game for ESWC for years to come, and to try to avoid last year's pitfall of having no competition for PES in ESWC.

Anyone wanting to lend a hand, don't forget to post your contact details here so that I can refer the organisers to you whenever required.

PES5 in ESWC 2006. Hooray!

I for one, prefer de PC version... faster n smoother than de PS2's... guess it's jst a matter of adaptation though:D

got a converter myself bt i usually use a usb gamepad.

hmm... i think one of the most important thing if use pc version is that the PC n video card is sufficiently smooth

i remember during the Zzap! E-games Asia 2005, the play on PC was slower than tat of PS2 n a bit jerky. it was quite disappointing wen i was staging a fightback n won a penalty; a press to the upper left of my joystick results in kicking the ball straight to the keeper - TAK MAKAN MY INPUT!!! sad.gif ...then own goal somemore( ok...my own fault lar...bt dem ...)

Dirge = Paan or Apes?

I also agree that the PC version is far smoother & faster compared to the PS2 version. The only reason that some people experience the PC version to be slower than PS2 is because their graphics card and/or processor are slow. When either 1 of these, or both, are slow (for instance, by using on-board graphics), it will make the movements jerky & stuttering.

Just like how Dirge explained during Zzap! E-games Asia 2005. The PC they used then were so damn slow, it made our players' movements stuttering! Even though I won 1st place in that competition, I understood the gripes that other people were complaining. I hope that problem will not repeat itself in ESWC 2006.

What's more, due to the fact that PES5 doesn't have LAN mode, this means that two people will be playing against each other on the same PC (coz if using different PC, we'll have to go thru the Internet, and that will DEFINITELY be SLOW). This will then eliminate any lagging complaints. Fair enough.

Oh yeah Chuah. I forgot about you. Sorry. smile.gif

Confirm PES5 doesn't have LAN mode. The Network option is only for connecting to the Internet to play via Internet. But not via LAN.

However, the connection technology they use to connect between 2 PC's is still IP-to-IP connection (the Internet is only used as a lobby to meet other players), so I think if both IP addresses reside on the same LAN, then the speed should be good. I think, coz I dunno much about networking. Not my forte.
