No.. buy iPad mini for what? Apple just want to kacau Google. The real show is iPad4. Android tablet really behind the performance curve. A15 better show up early next year. Why Google always sit there doing nothing. Apple has always targeted holiday sales.

Just came back from NEWEGG office. Left a happy man with shinny Nexus 7. I been wanting to place an order but really unsure about it since dont know how long it will take to arrive here. Really grateful to K5White for sharing that they do have some leftover. Not much left apparently, I was told the final 6 but more than a dozen coming in soon.

me too..actually, after inspecting my 32gb over at newegg ofis, i already wanted to pay on the spot for another order of the open box usd174 16gb n7..then suddenly the gal told me need to add 9% on top of the item. I calculate, become USD190, just USD9 shy of new unopened box. Confused, after heavy tot, come back think somemore first la
*
Same here... and I didnt even knew about the tax. Almost placed an order but after thinking a while... settle for 32GB better.

no prob bro. I think u and me have same doubts. Fraud, scam, m'sia custom problem, slow delivery, or watever that may arises from online purchase. Not bad mouthing newegg, but heard too many cases of others.

The only conservative way, "u give me physical item now, i give u cash now' can make me buy the item.
*
Yeah, but fraud is never on my mind anyway. Just not too sure how their bulking procedure since they said accumulate 20 items and ship in one go. I was more concerned with what if one or more dont pay up.

Anyway, read the charger label and seem like 240v is supported. Just different legs.

Have purchased a Nexus 7 32GB 3G through a relative in US. Bought online and delivered to New York. Has been delivered and now sitting there at my relative's place in New York. Happy and sad. Happy cos' managed to get one unit and safely delivered rclxms.gif Sad cos' my relative only coming back in another 3 weeks time!  cry.gif LOL

However, not very cheap because of the tax in New York State. It is a whopping USD27.78. Shipping charges to New York is another USD13.99 (according to UPS tracking, it delivered from Louisville, Kentucky, then to Newark New Jersey then to New York - 2 day shipping). All in cost me USD340.77, about RM1043 (at exchange rate of 3.06) or about RM1056 (if rate is 3.1). The state tax really kills. There are some states where there are no tax or cheaper rate of tax. Too bad mine was New York in this instance. But I can't complain too much, otherwise dunno wait until when only see the 3G model.

So if you are looking at the 32GB Wifi only model, faster grab from Newegg. Cheap. Too bad Newegg not offering the 3G model yet. But if you are aiming for that, faster grab from Newegg once they offer. (USD299 x 3.1) + RM49 = RM975.90 only. This is assuming no SIRIM charges. If kena SIRIM charges, add another RM100 = RM1075.90. Still ok. Not sure at all whether will kena Sirim or not, in any event.

But I seriously wonder how does Newegg make money...? And how come they can't offer the 3G model when it is readily available from Google Play?
*
I did ask them just now. Seem like 3G version will be a bit costly since need to pay SIRIM. But I think Uncle mentioned before RM100 is for 3 units, but who knows what will NewEgg charge.

Seriously hard to get used to the lack of physical home button. Are all Samsung phone users feeling the same? Really need time to get used to those tiny tiny icons which are usually in words like the clear in notification bar.

The ideal one. That TI Omap 4470 chipset and THAT resolution. drool.gif

Too bad too expensive liao. If budget permit then i won't wait. laugh.gif

I wonder with that, does it signal the end of sub RM1K tablet. Although I can surely said that I'm not that satisfied with Nexus 7, there's really not much choice. Was considering the crisp iPad 3 but seem like second hand price is a bit high.

Really should stop complaining about taking pictures with tablet. Some people are just too full of themselves. We should forgive them and move on. Our eyes and brain are more than enough to capture the moment.

for those who got 32GB N7 from Newegg, who to contact to place order?  Do they have a rep here who we can deal directly?  Anyone bought via Postage?  Most i saw here went to their office, grab and go but too bad i am in JB.  sad.gif
*
They deal via Facebook. So you just gotta fill in the CPP and they will sent you an invoice which you then pay before they ship it to you.

Any question, you can call the number on their facebook page and I think Richard is the one who's responsible for Sales Dept.

Well, I think the color temperature is slightly towards the warmer side for N7. It is like having a yellow tint on iPad2. Its also a good measure how saturated AMOLED was.

Seem like many sellers are stucked with 16GB stock. All selling 8xx but yesterday I passed by LYP and saw price already drop to RM799 at Hotspot.

Pretty fast. Conversing with them regarding my purchase, they usually reply within 1-2 days. I got every reply the next day after I replied to them though.
That means any other older Android phone will suffer from worse battery drain... sigh, looks like there's no option of going for the WiFi model. Have to wait it out for the 3G.
Any Android phone with Froyo (2.1) and newer software can. Settings > Wireless & Networks > Tethering & portable hotspot

Well, I was using my S3 to tether last Sunday. I don't think it drop 30% in an hour but really depends on your usage. I'm reading sites, manga and some YouTube. If playing mmorpg, then maybe it's possible cause it kept updating every seconds.

The new chrome fixed the annoying scrolling lag quite significantly. Less desire to root and push the aosp browser now.

Just to share to you my experience.

I accidentally dropped my Nexus 7 and cracked its screen, rendering it useless. After checking few internet forums (including this one), I decided to send for screen replacement at Asus Service Centre in Lowyat.

A quick chat with the service centre lady gave me these points to sum it up:
1) Most complains with regards to Nexus 7  is the durability of the screen
2) The screen easily cracks compared to other touch screen devices like the Ipad, kindle etc
3) Replacing screen alone is very expensive as it is not covered under warranty. I got charged RM 430!!!

So, what I can say is, do take extra care of your Nexus. Im already thinking of getting a cover case for mine and Lowyat has got many shops offering it between the range of RM40 to RM100++.

Cheers

h/w + codec uses the Tegra chip to do the coding & decoding, so it is definitely more powerful compared to original settings (I assume it would be software decoding)
*
This is a very silly thought. Not all hardware decoding works like charm as if it were a Samsung Galaxy S or Note series.

Generally understood that hardware decoding > software decoding. Never said that it was a universal rule. Some apps are better with software decoding even when run on powerful hardware BUT those apps are few and hard to come by.

EDIT: The Tegra is very much superior compared to other devices which the current media player apps have been written on which gives it an added advantage. Quad core > dual core when it comes to situations like these.
*
I'm speechless really. Even the media player I bought a year ago don't have any codec problem and plays everything I throw at it. Nexus 7? Simply poor. Can't even compare with galaxy note. I hope you knew what you're saying really. I don't really get what you mean by other device?

Today I charged my Nexus 7 with Samsung charger and battery drop really slow. After 2 hours screen on browsing, only drop 25%...

But when I open battery info, can't stop laughing. I wonder how it can happen though. Battery level goes up even when no charging.
