guys, what is the purpose of having wifi direct on nexus7?

there is no share via wifi direct when i choose share in gallery, or every other app that i have. (all file manager and picture viewer app)

on my galaxy s2, i turn on wifi direct, connected with nexus 7.
send a video on s2, choose send via wifi direct, keep waiting for nexus7 to accept but nothing happen.

is wifi direct working in nexus 7 at all?
strange google put a feature that doesn't work.
i am able to wifi direct to other device like s3, note, galaxy tabs.

i think samsung devices have the app built in, for nexus devices like nexus 7 u need 3rd party wifi direct app for it to work...so both devices need to have the same app (just search for wifi direct in play store to get it..)

yeah! wifi direct working!!

use this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...udius.WiFiShoot

but its quite mafan also la.
since the free version only allow send 1 file at a time, and only for pics and video.

my main purpose of using wifi direct is want to send lots of pics to view on nexus 7.

so the workaround is zip all the pics, rename the zip to jpg.
use app to transfer, and unzip in nexus7.

troublesome? but faster and less hassle than usb on the go transfer.

wifi direct working seamlessly in samsung device. and galaxy nexus during ICS times. duno whats wrong with google. going backwards.

if you have HD Widgets, uninstall it. It seems that caused my N7 to restart by itself. Remove it from the lockscreen if you have any as well. This ain't a bug due to incompatibility of that app but more likely a 4.2 bug, as told by the HD Widgets rep on XDA. But this isn't the only app that causes the soft-reboot issue. My advice would be to limit the usage of 3rd party lockscreen widgets, only use the ones from Google. I have no such issue anymore after not having any 3rd party widgets (in my case, the HD Widgets) on lock screen. No random reboots and ya, expect a bug fixes from Google, hopefully soon.

Want to ask about nandroid.

Reading from xda forums, unsure.

If eg. do nandroid backup for version 1, then upgrade rom higher to version 2 and then do nandroid full restore, the rom still remains as version 2 ... only the apps etc are restored. Is that true?

Or is everything incl. rom version 1 is restored? rclxub.gif

Nandroid is like an image of your phone state at the point of backup.
It includes whole ROM + apps + user data (not your external media like pictures, songs etc. Referring to Apps data) + recovery.img + baseband etc
When you do a full restore from Nandroid, it returns your phone/tablet to the state when you did the backup.

You get what I mean??

Btw, you can choose to restore only certain part of nandroid then that is different case wink.gif

And I highly recommend you guys use TWRP as recovery as it allows nandroid backup to , say external USB thumb drives. Restoring has always been perfect for me so far. You will appreciate the space savings ( up to 2 GB per rom backup) especially if yours is a 16 GB unit
