Hello. I was looking for a low budget way to record my game footage (xbox 360 and gamecube) and I was considering EasyCap at one point since it's cheap. However, after extensive googling I realise that there are pirated EasyCaps in circulation and I don't want to take the risk.
So I searched and found someone selling an old Pinnacle Dazzle card. It's an old model (probably a DVC 120, not sure.) and I was very interested in getting it. However, it does not come with the capture software and the driver is only for 32 bit computers and would mean that I need to reinstall my windows 7 from a 64 bit to a 32 bit.
I found Pinnacle Studio 10 for sale, but I couldn't find out online if it supports the DVC 120. However, after googling, I realise the software only works well with Vista. That would mean that even if the software supports the DVC 120, and I downgraded my Windows 7 to a 32bit version, I would need Vista!
So what are your suggestions? Are there any other low-budget methods to record my gameplay footage?
Thanks in advance. =).

I just bought something called HD EzyRecorder few minutes ago. Expect to receive it within this week. It's an inline recording device which does not require any PC or software. Standalone box. All I need to do is connect the cables and plug in a USB drive (internal SATA optional).
You can drop me a message after a few days to find out if it's really that easy to record. Planning to capture in HD.

A whopping RM550. But after checking many corners, this is the cheapest and most practical solution for recording HD without a high-end PC.

The price sounds about right for a HD capture device. Hope you can upload some raw recorded videos for us to see the quality if the video size is not too big. Anyway, ts, you can just buy an Easycap from me if you're worry about pirated Easycap and not willing to take risk. I'm aware of fake Easycaps on the market and thus I sell genuine Easycap only from a reliable supplier. PM my previous customers list for reference if you doubt me. Also, the Easycap I sold is latest version and will run on Win 7 64 bit with original Ulead software (serial key included) and drivers! Check out my thread here http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1658512&hl= I also posted some recorded videos when using different source input and devices so you may compare the actual quality. If you have questions, feel free to ask me, have a good day!

Here are some samples I just did. Recorded BR movies so I can hit 1080i. Cannot do 1080p. And there's a lag in sound when doing inline (output to TV). Not suitable for rhythm games. Alice In Wonderland http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55k9Pm_jrecLady Gaga concert http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2WnMXdMMrASomething silly with Skyrim http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wtIhgOqj2EThis post has been edited by pkh: Oct 26 2012, 01:14 AM

SD capture cards range from RM50-RM100, 1080i capture cards range from RM100-RM300 and HD720p-1080p cards range from RM500-RM700. Also, please state your pc's specs if possible so that people can give better recommendation.

From the sample videos, it doesn't seem like there's audio and visual 'out-of-sync' issues. But during actual gameplay, it's very noticeable. Not to the point of waiting half a sec for action to respond. It varies depending on games.
Fighting games : Doesn't seem to affect the gameplay FPS (tested via Skyrim) : The feel of the control changed. Due to a slight delay, your eyes will not match the movement of your thumb. One is faster than the other. As a result, you get a little more dizzy. It's like watching someone else play FPS. Coz you will feel dizzy when you aren't able to anticipate the timing of the movement. Still playable, but dizzy. Rhythm games : In Rockband, you can adjust the video and audio output delay. But for classic or simple games like Space Channel 5, the option ain't there. Therefore, rendering it unplayable. Movies : While recording the Lady Gaga concert, the preview on the TV has obvious audio sync problems. The movement of her mouth doesn't match the voice. No, Gaga does not lip sync.
I guess it should be common coz this device is an active inline rather passive inline. Delay caused by --> signal from console to PVR --> PVR process --> PVR output to TV
Added on October 30, 2012, 9:42 amUPDATE : It does have a passive inline. But not for recording. If you power down the unit, the video and audio feed will still run through. Upon comparison, the passive inline does not have audio delay. This proves that when the unit is powered up, it receives signal, and process before sending it out to the TV. But when powered off, it switches to a direct out.

All video capture system usually have a delay. Thats why its recommended to get a good capture devices with low response time. Most of the Cheap capture devices are mostly for regular video recapture and thus not recommend for gaming related due to high response time. i m currently using AVmedia Gamecapture. From what i m experiencing its still has least 15ms response time when recording at 720p. Even pass thru mode still produce a slight delay. This post has been edited by y3ivan: Oct 30 2012, 11:49 AM
