Hello,

Im planning to get active subwoofer to have more feel on the sub bass as my music is sub bass emphasize which usually produced low frequency below 20hz. I don't want it to go booming so hard and waste my trunk space. So I thought of getting 1 pair or maybe 2 pair to put below my myvi seat. I think my current original speakers is just fine for the hi's but i just want to fill in some proper sub bass sound in my car.

Also I might do soundproof on each door of the car so that I wont get the rattle shaking sounds. If I only soundproof my door with 1 layer, is it ok because I don't want it to kill all the sounds coming from outside as it will be dangerous.

I quite like the design of BOSS active subwoofer and from what I have read, BOSS product is a good quality. Below are the model that I keen to get and hopefully someone in here can help me recommend where I can get any good quality of active subwoofer and also enlighten me with these matters. biggrin.gif

Wow, if want frequency below 20Hz think you need to rethink. Think Redbook format CD dont go below 20Hz. Even for a 12" to do below 20Hz also not easy. Unless you dont mind the 20Hz all below 20db.......

to enjoy sub, there's no need to reach 20hz..most ppl wont even feel it, not to say hearing it. if a sub can do well from 35-80 is consider good enuff.....your car engine will give u the 20hz feel for free after started engine :>

Ok guys thanks for the tips smile.gif really appreciate it. I should test it first before I buy.

Howiechoo, your shop EA Autoworks got carry any good quality active subwoofer? I'm looking for any of the BOSS series active subwoofer, Blaupunkt XLf 200 A, Kenwood KSC-SW01 Powered Subwoofer, JVC CS-BB2 or Fusion CP-AS1080 cos I see these are all subs that response to 15hz - 20hz. Or maybe you have any other brand recommendation?

Agree with you....hahahaha..... TS request not easy to meet, want 15-20Hz from active underseat compact subwoofer..... if got I also want....
My request is only underseat compact sub that can do 50hz at 70db and 100hz more than 85 db with range between 20hz to 200hz with slope of -6db every 10hz down and -3db with every 10hz up from 120hz...... Max height at 3 inch so can fit under seat..... whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif

if you want to the sub to be responsive on low frequencies/have LFE, ditch the idea of active subwoofers, they won't meet your requirement at all.

get a 10/12" passive sub with amp/mono block, sealed or ported is up to you. i personally prefer ported for better LFE

Just replying to you, seem like you know your Hz and respond range.... Should not be that technical yet. We have not come to cancellation, dip and peak talk yet and 45Hz boost yet...... Hahahaha... To even out car phase shift......
By the way, installing 2 active sub does not mean your DB will double, there could be other issue involve like phase and setup issues as need also to look at connection and power handling.....
I am not a good person to advise you as I am not a bass kind of a guy and I don't have a sub also... No moolah to get sub.... shocking.gif shocking.gif shocking.gif

That heading to the correct direction.... Get a dual 15" on a solid mdf ported box powered with monoblock with actual rms power of 500watt that can dip to 1ohm and that can peak to 2000 watt.... Think would be able to do 16Hz at 80db if port are tune correctly...... notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

mmmm hmmm..... well i know if i install passive sub with amp it should do it right and way better. But i just want something that can save space without kacau my trunk. That's when i thought to just get a decent quality active subwoofer. Just to have the sub bass cos at the moment with standard audio system in myvi, it just sounds empty, hi's to sharp, mid bass a bit crap. So I'm thinking if I add in the sub bass, the sounds should be balance... or I must get an equalizer to tweak the sounds right.. Im not sure my theory is correct or not tongue.gif

The spl will be up by 3db... which is considered double is the audio term... but its hard to achieve a full 3db increase... plus its freq. dependent. increase 3db @ 200Hz would probably makes you wished that you never upgraded...

if the value will be 95db x 2 = 190db... then IASCA records would be a laughing stock all these while...

my car is the 2008 version one right before the latest version now. my budget is around rm1200. the stock HU i think theres no eq. the only eq is the balance right left / front back speaker sound. I will pm mr howiechoo for further discussion and recommendation biggrin.gif
