there are so many custom roms available, wanam lite, omega, HD Armor...can someone recommend a best one? considering good battery life and less bloatwares.
*
as Uncle Benny mentioned - there is no best one! Much like there is no dragon scroll for the Kungfu Panda. You need to know what you want and read thru those ROM features.

anyway, I flashed WanamLite 1.2. I just need a deodexed stock rom with init.d support to do certain mods. No need all the fancy add-on, tweaks or themes. smile.gif

the idling battery life of the Note II is not less impressive. Fully charged to 100% around 11pm yesterday night. Wake up this morning at 7:15am, the battery life still stand at 100%. shocking.gif But wifi & 3G off during the night. Only Alarm is on. biggrin.gif

It is still at 99% now. biggrin.gif

I wonder if the MOD can put the guide on rooting in the page #1, just like the note 1 thread. smile.gif

it is TS's job, not MOD's.

My second blog post on how to swap your external Sdcard as internal memory for the G Note 2:

http://leemn.wordpress.com/2012/10/25/gala...nternal-memory/

Yesterday I posted on How to root, install CVWM and flash upgrade stock official rom

Hope this will help all newbies
*
great!! sometime XDA thread is quite tedious to read thru. Your guide is more spot-on. Will do the memory swap when i got the 64GB. biggrin.gif

2399 is the price in Johor. Some of the shop think that the customer is dumb that they quote this kind of price.
*
so i can consider i bought at a steal at RRP of RM2,299 on Oct 18 (before launch) at JB for my grey SME set. laugh.gif

went to car accessories shop 2 days ago and saw the boss was applying screen protector to his new Note II when i step into the shop. biggrin.gif

I have been using Tab 7.7 after i sold my Note earlier before the Note II arrived. It cannot fit as a phone - not practical at all to carry around, especially for guys who do not carry a bag normally. But Tab 7.7 is much better in playing games and watching videos/magazines, etc due to its nice big screen.

btw, Ch8 singapore is currently airing a new Chinese drama series on 9pm - most of the smartphones used are Galaxy Note. Can see the gigantic Note all over the place - maybe Samsung is one of the sponsor. Can't really believe the Note looks so big on screen. laugh.gif

wah, how does it feel using the pen note 10.1?
*
haven't got chance to play with it yet coz we do not stay together, only have gathering during weekend. She was actually asking me about Ipad last weekend. So I ask her what is her purpose in getting Ipad. So in the end, after my poisoning, she was very happy that she got her dream device - a big tablet (but not as bulky as her Asus laptop) that can use a Pen to draw, has phone function, can connect to external display, has external storage, can surf on the go...bla bla bla.... She is an art lecturer and good in drawing, the Note 10.1 is the perfect match for her usage.

**I think we are a bit off-topic already. tongue.gif

- Install Root Explorer
- nagivate to "/system/media/audio/ui"
- rename "shutter.ogg" to "shutter_off.ogg"
- Done.
thanks for the tip - need to pin this in first posts. btw, miss 1 step - need to Mount R/W first before renaming. smile.gif

to all that have rooted their note 2. any difference feel in the performance? battery lift?
*
Root by itself will not have any performance gain. It is those custom roms, kernals, whatever that improve the performance.

QUOTE(whoops @ Oct 25 2012, 02:23 PM)
Thanks for the info..

but I think the first thing I need to google how to root my note 2 first.. seems like we can do lots of things after rooting our device..
*
yes, using an Android without root is just using 70% of the potential of the devices. I dun find custom roms is really necessary but Root to me is a must - all my android devices are rooted on day 1. biggrin.gif

Recommended link for more info on Root, etc - >>XDA Note II forum<<. Read thru the relevant thread thoroughly, if there is any more doubts, feel free to ask here. smile.gif

Very disappointed with sme.
Brings my brand new note2 back to sme n ask for replace due to the lens problem. They ask me to wait for 2 weeks? Why 2 weeks? It's brand new, out of the box it's defect, you should just replace to me on the spot n not wait for 2 weeks.. Sigh, now they are repairing the lens for me.. Feel so sad for my note2, brand new thn have to b in operation ><
*
you should have open it and test until satisfied then only pay the money. Normally as soon as you leave the shop, hard to request for 1-to-1 exchange. I bought 2 S3 previously for my wife and brother, one of the S3's home button is not responsive on press. Immediately request to exchange for another set on the spot.

the battery life is getting better and better with each recharge cycle. I purposely charge to full and use until the phone's battery run dry until auto off then only recharge it to full again in 1 shot before unplug it from charger.

Already 16hrs and now it is still 89% left since 11pm yesterday night. I dun use it much actually since working in office today but all the normal sync and 3G/WiFi is turned on. Would be at least 20-30% gone for previous Note even not much usage like this.

I didnt thought of this before but my wife got her NoteII with a magnetic flip case.. now the S-pen wont work on the small circle on the screen where the magnet is placed when closed the flip case..

so i recommend everyone dont buy case with  magnet flap to close the flip case.. it will damage the S-pen sensor on that particular area..
*
it is already many reports in the Note's thread that magnetic case will potentially damage the phone or at least coz some malfunctions.
