agree....he has too much spirit power alone but he hasn't a clue on releasing bankai nor controlling it therefore he takes this as he true form/released form...he just knows how to release 'em hence the chipped katana/zanpakutou of his..

his tremendous rietsu came from his very very strong determination to fight/survive. that's the same with ichigo, he already has very strong rietsu but it increased after getting to know about it from Rukia and his rietsu increased later as his determination is protect the one close to him and to not let down the rest who has sacrificed so much for his cause heighten up

the bells are for the enemies to hear his movement while for those who doesn't know ( i doubt so la) the eye patch is in a way to reduce his fighting capability

or..or..maybe its a plot...a whole consipracy theory that was suppose to f*ck with our minds...my gawd those damn authors/scriptwriters...them good no?
